Interesting article Louise, I hadn't realised Jay's could store the acorns in pouches Our neighbour's oak tree has had a huge crop of acorns this year and I've seen a Jay there a couple of times.

Now here's a thing ...... ;D I have just seen a sparrow !!!!!!!!! Never, ever get them here, not never I saw it, with the gold and the greenfinches, on one of the seed feeders, over in the rowan tree ! In the last garden we had dozens and dozens of the things but this is the very first one i've seen in 5 years - they're just not in this area - you don't even hear them in the distance ! Amazing

My collared doves came back this morning. They disappeared in the summer and I think they were traitors and went to my neighbour's for nesting. I then thought I had lost them for good, but they are back for the fourth year. I wonder if the limping ordinary pigeon will be back. Obviously, he is easy to spot.

How do you know they're yours, I read somewhere that they keep movin' on.

Plenty sparrows here too though they have to compete with the Jackdaws and starlings at the peanut feeders. Not too many ostriches and penguins so far

Otherwise, I would maybe have more. Maybe they are not the same two. The pigeons at the front are the same, because I know them.

We saw an unusual sight the other day....normally we only see magpies mooching around on their own.....there were 6 of them....must have been their annual convention

I have seen that only twice and both at Weston Green in Surrey, not far from Hampton Court. it really is something to behold. Must have been upwards of 50 magpies in the ones I saw. The noise was something else!

I haven't seen anything unusual recently just the sparrows, robin & a male & female blackbird but I think something must have flown into the kitchen window this morning. I was in the front room & heard a thump, there was a damp muddy smudge on the window but nothing outside so it must have been O.K. luckily!
