Well, I have a standard food pattern. The food is in two china troughs. One trough just holds standard bird seed, aimed that the Wood Pidgeons... although the sparrows seems to like a bit of it as well.
The other trough has.... 35% crumbled-up fat ball. 35% home-made peanut kibble (peanuts whizzed up in my food blender, which now lives in the polytunnel) 20% seed mix for small birds .. designed for robins and sparrows. 5% mealworm 5% sultanas (plumphed up overnight by soaking them in water)
The tablecloth and cutlery is from Harrods, and the candelabra from Maisons du Monde.
I like these birds, but egads.. they are eating me out of house, home, and Polytunnel. I'd estimate my monthly birdseed costs at about £30 !!!

Lovely that you've got so many birds roofgardener, the thrush is beautiful, very rarely see them around here. Your food set-up sounds like a very good 'all you can eat' buffet!

An expensive business roofy, I know because I was was the one who ordered and bought food for my hubbys birds, who repaid by pooing all over my daughters car which was under the tree with all the bird feeders you have to love them

You know.. I was just thinking. Apart from the Sparrows, and the Wood Pidgeons, birds only tend to hang around for one season. I used to have some Dunnocks last year... but there's been no sign of them this year. I didn't have the starlings last year. I've got them in spades now, but will any be here next year ? My parents had this; a large gaggle of starlings, which then just disappeared after one season, and never returned. I've got two families of Blackbirds.. but the children will fly the nest, and probably never return. The same is true of the Thrushes, and the Dove. So I wrote a pastiche of "She's leaving home" by the Beatles. They're leaving home Wednesday Morning at Five O' clock As the day begins Silently watching the lightening sky Waiting the moment that they would fly One last peck at the feeding bowl One last look at the tree One last look around their garden home Leaping to flight, they are free. They (we gave them weeks of our life) Are leaving (sacrificed weeks of our life) Home (we taught them everything that they know) They're leaving home, after living with us, from so may weeks. They (what did we do that was wrong ?) Are leaving (we didn't know it was wrong) Gone ! (instinct is one thing that can't be ignored) Something inside that cannot be denied for so many weeks. They're leaving home Bye Bye Fly Fly (original can be found at www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaBPY78D88g )

Just watched a skein of geese honking overhead on their way to who knows where. Counted a dozen.

Love your version of 'She's Leaving Home' Roofy, very moving. I listened to the original on your link as well, haven't heard that for years & am now quite teary! I think of the birds & wildlife in our garden as 'ours' too & wonder where they've gone, I like to think they've just flown off to find their own territory & raise their own families elsewhere & not met a sticky end.

Me too SueA ! I read that Starlings tend to roost at night in large assemblies. If - for any reason - that roosting site becomes unavailable (because somebody has built a house, or cut down some trees) then the Starlings - en masse - move to new territory. I joined the RSPB yesterday

Love the 'salad bar' & the bird buffet Roofy. Everything looks like it's doing well & I think I'd just wait see what comes up in the pots you're not sure of, some of them might turn out to be weeds which have out-competed your flower seeds but you never know you may get some pleasant surprises.

Indeed SueA . I'll be blowed if I can understand where they came from though. They where brand new seed pots, and new compost !

Well, I've had a BIT of a setback with my gardening. A little over 12 days ago I had a mild stroke, which has made my right arm and leg a bit wobbly I've managed to re-train my right hand so that I can (sort of) type again. Meanwhile, everything has grown !. I hope to post some pictures later on today
