a flock of reed buntings arrived, very shy birds and nervous, they took to the bushes for the least little noise

Serendipity. Went to pick up the latest set of fallen twigs. Heard a hoot and saw these. Managed to get the camera before they moved. Mother owl Baby owl

Saw her again last evening. Too dark to get an image. She called for a good half hour. Think the baby was well hidden in the foliage.

had to take this through the kitchen window, so not a great photo but it was sitting for quite some time yesterday looked as fed up with the rain as us

Only seagulls here today! About 8.30am I saw one that as it passed by our balcony showed it's belly to the rising sun which turned it pinkish for a couple of seconds! Lots more gulls during the morning but I didn't see any pinkish tummies any more. Whenever there is an easterly component to the wind we see lots of them here. They make such a racket in the morning that you would think we were at the seaside!
