Been to the gardens today and started the big tidy up.Cut sides off covers but left the tops on until I lift my tubers in 5/6 weeks time.Gave the plants there first water in 4 weeks and went through and cut off any blooms over the top to keep petals from dropping all over the groundcover, left a few heads on some varieties for some seed and marked any plants that were daisy eyed or did'nt perform so as to konw to discard them tubers. My double row of poms has now formed a 40 feet long,5 feet high and 5 feet deep hedge and is a great sight.Ground tubers of some varieties will be avaiable in november just for the price of p+p or swaps.

Priced up how much it will cost me for the amount of polythene I will need for covering the dahlia's next season, £165 Just need to price up some second hand timber now, to build a further frame over another dahlia bed.

I was very lucky Tel,my boss at work gave me a dozen 4 metre pallets wich made me a 15 metre by 7 metre frame. He also gave me two 4 metre by 18 metre sheets of shrink wrap.so I got a frame made and covered for just the price of sand and cement £25.

Hi dcdahlia, If possible i would like to have the following tubers, gateshead festival, hillcrest candy, weston pirate, ruskin myra, ruskin michelle and valse candy. I would be really happy if you could miss 2 tubers of each but would be satified with 1 off each already. These are varieties that are not grown in Holland so it would be something specail to have them here. Mayby we can swap with some off my tubers, otherwise just let me know if you would like to send them abroad and what the costs are. Thanks Edwin
