Do you mean the really dark purple ball? It is called Downham Royal.

Put 2 photos looks different depending on the light.

This one is Franz Kafka - it's a large pom.


The only other one is Mary's Jomanda but that is supposed to be more of a pink than a purple. Not sure if it looks the right colour in the photo.

Here are a couple of better ones Robh, bit disappointed because their colour has not been consistent. Some have been very washed out. Bought them from Sarah Raven.

I entered my 1st dahlia show today.


This show is a 'mini' show and next week is the main Annual show & I am planning on entering the Novice class.

It took me a minute or two before I realised.

I must confess I did do a lot of asking questions, including 'Is this the right vase?' Luckily we were given tables to set up on either side of the hall. I think that it was better for us both that way. I did get told by him and later my Mum that I had used too much (Dad) bit too much (Mum) water. So I spent a bit of time trying not to tip sloppy newspaper whilst at the same time trying to pour water back into my tins (and sometimes I did it with a dahlia in position). Dad told me a few times go and look at the other dahlias in the class. I did a lot of that when I was trying to do the vases of 3.

This is my dahlia jungle. We have 6 foot fence panels. The unopened buds that are a lot higher than the fence are from a cutting that my Dad gave me. It was supposed to be Clearview Arlene but Dad thinks that he must have got the wrong label. I personally think it must have a DNA cross from a sunflower. Haven't got a clue how I am going to check the size of any of those without the stilts that it is there certainly isn't room for a step ladder. Looking forward to a surprise soon.

nb I sounds like I actually own a pair of stilts, I don't but I might have to go shopping... Clear as mud my posts.
