Does anyone know what variety each of these blooms were? Alan Barlow with his "E. J. Widdowson" Trophy Championship Winning Exhibit at The National Dahlia Show Shepton Mallet 2006. For some reason I cannot open the picture. I cannot find my 2007 winter bulletin with the results in for 2006. I can find the 2006 and the 2008 one's. ;D

Not seen this one listed in UK, geoff. You might have to do like Moonlight and order from the USA. From that photo it looks more like a large pom, but that could be the angle the shot was taken.

Took 67 cuttings of gurtla twilight and managed to root 32 up so I will be planting 22 and keeping 10 as pot tubers for next year. Also planting 12 minley carol and 12 willos violet.

That's pretty good for the Gurtla, dc. Planted 9 Willo's Violet out this morning, all have had their first stop and were in 6in pots. They needed potting on so I took the chance and planted out. I have another 8 which are not quite ready yet. I will keep at least one of these to grow in a large pot. I intend to grow one of each of my cultivars in large pots of Canna Coco Professional +, in the greenhouse. I grew Trelyn Kiwi like this last year and they have been the most consistent in throwing cuttings and rooting this year.

Here is a first for me on this forum. Advice needed for myself. ;D Over the last 20 years or so, I have only grown and shown one Pom Moorplace, after a few reminders from the other half that she likes Poms I bought 4 varieties, Willows Violet, Noreen, Gurtla Twilight and Rhonda. Now I need your help on what to do with each variety, on getting them up to size or keeping the size down. Thanks

Hi Tel. I find 'Willo's Violet' does best on my allotment when grown on a three stop, with the stops about four weeks apart, aiming for 50+ flowering stems to keep the size down. My plants have had their first stop and will have another when there are two pairs of leaves and a growing tip. Don't know if there'll be time to get in a third.
'Gurtla Twilight' is naturally smaller and better grown on a two-stop with some light feeding and disbudding. Your best bet for this variety would be Dave Gillam's video diary from the last two years where I think he gives a pretty detailed break down of how he grew this. He certainly had cracking blooms of it last year everywhere I saw him show, in particular 18 blooms in the Welsh National Show which won him the pom championship.
Not grown the other two, Tel, but hope this helps.
