Mark for growing without covers they look tremendous ! Very inpressed. Oh I am getting that invigorator as well you told me about going to order now and use all year. Loads of stuff I think will benefit. How quickly do you use it ? Wondering whether to buy 2 bottles or 10.
I have rather an extensive shopping list building and a big bill before I even start getting the plants etc... Starting this autumn but the bulk of it in spring.
Hapet perfect looks great as do they all !

I got mine as plants from Taylors. It takes some growing as it needs a double stop, and I would then grow off a side shoot. Get it right and it will look good in your garden and at local shows people will love it. It takes up a lot of space too. I'm hoping for 3 for a show on Saturday, so that will be a good test for it.

I'm sure Scrumpy means Frankie 'The Keyboard' Taylor. Not the hanging packet outfit.
Clearview Louise propagates dead easy, throws up good cuttings that root easy. Anyone after tubers I have a number available. PM me if interested.

The C.view tubers from the US are indeed very difficult to get growing because they come in really small pieces and are very expensive because you have to pay for special agricultural certification on top of postage.
It's way too late for me now, I have some photos of C.view Edie and Tammy that I was going to put up in my diary but I'll add them here but I've got to be up early to finish cutting for my show tomorrow. So I'll not do them now.
Each to their own. I think that is part of the fun of dahlias there is such a massive range of type, colour sizes etc. Each to their own it is good to hear about different ways of looking after tubers. Last year I didn't wash them or treat them with any chemicals and they were not kept in heated greenhouse.
I think I was lucky but the fact that I have managed to grow anything at all is a massive deal to me. It's still like Christmas seeing that first shoot from a tuber.

To be honest I can't see anything wrong in @woodforddahlias6 reply, I do know from previous threads over the years it is very easy when looking at writing in forums to take something the wrong way or not as it was meant, and I am sure that is probably what happened above, the dahlia section on here is without doubt one of the best in the country, keep participating we are all learning from each other here.

Crikey !! Whats all this nonsense all about ?
You have a guy who asks a 20 to the dozen questions a day to which we all try and answer and turn in it into a constructive debate or sub thread.
I wont join in on Raymonds dahlia posts, he obviously knows it all so let him get on with it. Complete b******* about show and garden dahlias, I grow both.
Sorry guys you will have to deal with his dahlia twaddle, I cant be asked with it.

I agree with what Steve say's for a small forum we have one of the best sections on dahlia's, it does not matter one iota if you grow for garden pleasure or showing We try to help each other that's why we are here. Has for the written reply I am one of the worst for trying to give advice in the written form. I hope neither of you decide to leave this forum, you are all needed.

Night All Likewise Moonlight !! I imported a number of american tuber chicken legs last year. Luckily I got a good number of cuttings from them but they had to be nursed along to get anything. I think in future unless its a new knockout variety that I'm desperate for I will wait for someone else to do the hard work and ship them in. It is indeed expensive and all told probably not worth the trouble. You live and learn ish !!

That's the problem, it is a gamble because some of the websites the blooms looks so good but in reality have significant weaknesses but then the temptation of getting that knockout dahlia with that something special about it is difficult. Purchased tubers from a couple of raisers unfortunately, one doesn't seem to be online anymore and I can't work out why. Website dead and email account bounces - will keep an eye online in case they have just changed website and email accounts.
