What a pity sweetpea, we've got the same problem with trees & the soggy ground & I've got an upright liquidamber so I hope it doesn't go the same way as yours, they are lovely trees.

that's a shame sweetpea will you replace it with another tree or something completely differentNo idea yet. As it is still raining I may not even get to remove it right away.

naturally when the tree fell it landed on my seed sown Hibiscus but I think it will be ok. the saving grace is that there is an off shoot from the liquidamber rootball about 2' high so hopefully that will replace it in time.

An expensive week this. The pond filter is literally falling apart as is the shed housing it and the various other electrics there. Finally bit the bullet and ordered new filter and new shed. Over £300.00 Ouch! That hurt.. Filter arrived yesterday and shed due today so going to be rather busy over the weekend. Will give the shed an extra coat of cuprinol preservative prior to erecting and then figure out how to position it and drill the necessary holes for the cables, pipes etc. Most of this has come about since using Aquaplankton in the pond. All it has done is make the pond water worse and clog up the filter along with several fish casualties. having to mega water changes and regular filter cleaning almost on a daily basis. Will never ever use that stuff again. so much for their glossy literature and advertising. if I use someones product and it does the job I will always recommend it but on the other hand...... OK rant over. Another cuppa now and still waiting for delivery. ps Didn't the Fijians do well. No doubt a national holiday will be declared in Fiji now pps. Reckon I'm on the way to doolallyville. Thought delivery was today and all prepared for it but it is actually in two weeks time, Fri. 26th oh well back to the drawing board

Complain to the company Jim. Take some pics for them. Might just do that Dai though I doubt I'd get anywhere as they are sure to have a get out clause somewhere.

thanks for the heads up on Aquaplankton sweetpea I'll make sure I never use it, it's good to hear when someone has a problem with a particular one (although I am sorry it's happened to you ) I thought it was supposed to be fish friendly Aquaplancton Do you have a pond or lake? Is it muddy, murky or green with algae? Is it slimy, smelly, choked with weed and a chore to clean out? If you have a pump, are you forever cleaning or changing the filter? Would you like to be able to see your fish again? Aquaplancton could well be the answer.
Aquaplancton is used successfully with fish all the time and is safe for ducks, plants, pets, all forms of wildlife, UV and biological filters. Aquaplancton can clear green water, sludge, slime, odour, blanket weed and all types of algae.
For the ecological restoration of flora and fauna in lakes, ponds, rivers and streams. taken from their website, so I would definately complain

I dug out the literature this morning to see what it says. We got a 25Kg bag in 2011 and followed the instructions to the letter even waiting until November when much of the plants were less of an obstruction. Several months later with no sign of any improvement I phoned them up and was told to add the rest which I had kept back. I did this using a watering can as per Geoff. Hamilton's tip and to date all that has happened is the water has got worse so not a happy bunny. Maureen, her of little faith, reckons I put too much in but according to aquaplancton's literature I didn't and anyway even if I had put too much in it is supposed to be harmless and only does good. ps. just fired off long email to Aquaplancto only to get 'message undelivered' so not sure now what has happened. Will probably telephone on Monday to make sure they are still in business.

Got the reply from aquaplancton today and as expected they played their 'get out' card as follows;
Dear Mr. Paterson,
Thank you for your recent e-mail. We do appreciate that achieving a problem free pond is not easy and can sometimes be very frustrating.
Pollution is so varied and widespread these days that any number of things could have caused the deterioration in your pond over the last five years. Although results may vary when using Aquaplancton, it certainly never does any harm.
In our letter dated 15th June 2011, sent to you before you ordered Aquaplancton, we did state quite clearly that:-
“A pond is a highly complex eco-system with an infinite variety of circumstances, what works in one pond does not, necessarily work in another.” We also stated this in our letter to you dated 19th August 2013 and it says it, in bold, on our website.
People frequently come to us saying they’ve tried many different products which haven’t worked so would like to try ours. Sometimes it can be a matter of trying all the different products to see which works best in your particular set of circumstances.
There are however, certain things that you can do to help yourself, so we are attaching a list of hints which we hope you will find helpful.
Yours sincerely,
Aquaplancton
