Sweetpea, my tomato tops were cut off at this level some time ago. The new tomatoes would never ripen now. I still want to see the photos.

Not much today as very busy with other stuff but did manage to dig out a couple more shrubs to go to tip. Still got quite a few more to remove but will get there in the end.

I remember in GN some years back a contributor showed his tomatoes growing up as normal but then being trained across the roof and down the other side of the g'house. Also a cucumber plant trained up a wire and then two sideshoods trained horizontally along another wire with cucumbers hanging down all the way along. I tried that one year and was quite successful with it. Had to give away loads of cucumbers.

Well that is my 'Merlin' daffs planted out at last. They have been in the shed now for a few weeks. There was 22 in the bag which just fitted into the space I had cleared. It turned out to be a harder job than anticipated as the ground was to dry and crumbly for the bulb planters to work so had to dig each hole separately. Also forgot to incorporate some leaf mould which I had available but they will be ok I'm sure. Because the ground was so dry I had to lug the watering can all the way down to give it a bit of a soak.

I would not have bothered watering them SP. It will rain soon enough.

Cherry, when you plant, pot up or pot on any plant it should be watered in. This is NOT to water the plant, but to help settle the soil / compost around the roots.

managed a little bit more in the dahlia area by digging out a cornus and some othere stuff. The soil seems to be quite good there apart from the various weed roots. Started to scarify the grass today but the mantis tiller decided to play up for some reason and I only got about a quarter done. i suppose it had to act up some time as I've had it for years without any problems.

I have a Mantis, but not the scarifying attachment. Got the edging one though. Then again, I haven`t a lawn, so don`t need a scarifier.
