Wasps also kill aphids. Lots of honey bees in today`s garden number 2. It does help that they have 2 hives though.

Sorry to correct you dianthus but wasps cannot break the skin of any fruit. It is the birds that do the initial damage and the wasps then take advantage. So now you know or they only have to get cracked by the wind, rain or very dry/ very wet episodes, sweetpea. Can't always blame the birds..... except those toerag magpies that live 40ft from my garden!! Magpies! MAGPIES! You should be so lucky. Look what I have in my garden:

Now that is what you call a long garden!! Is there a veg plot at the far end? Don`t be daft, that`s the Ostrich paddock. Jim only keeps the poor Ostrich because the plumage makes superb paintbrushes. Plus he still uses a quill.

My granny told me about quill pens and she told me Ostrich feathers last longer because they are longer.

You said you were 64 last week.... looks like you are already on the slippery slope of old age, dai!
Me thinks goose feathers were more commonplace in Britain, especially before Stanley found Livingstone in Africa!

Now that is what you call a long garden!! Is there a veg plot at the far end? Have some space for veg by the greenhouse which you can just see top of in pic. Do have other areas as well as this but some of the area not best suited for veg. Will be growing mainly salad stuff like beetroot, radish, lettuce, tomatoes etc. plus runner beans.
