Shredders. I've got a Bosch so called Silent shredder although it is more of a chipper. Had it for years but the biggest problem I find is that it tends to clog up with foliage and then you have to fiddle around trying to unblock it. So my question is what would you recommend that would deal easily with branches but also with softer stuff which could then be composted? Ta.

Have you got a tool to push the stuff into the shredder Sweetpea? My shredder does the same but I just push the soft stuff down and it eventually passes through

Just tested this little gadget from aliexpress it has a sharp blade on one side for cutting soft stuff like flowers heads and held to a finger on top with a a stretchy wire bit and it is spring loaded so springs open again after each cut. The blade is really sharp and it cuts clean every time, great for harvesting lavender and cutting flowers even thick lupin stems. It cuts better than secateurs as you can home in on the stem quicker and it keeps the hand free. I think it would also work well for cuttings. The little stretchy wire thing around the finger is a bit tight and the blade is not replaceable but a handy we gadget for £1.70 I love it

On occasion it works very well but as I say it has its drawbacks.

I made these diy soil blockers to see how they perform before investing the real thing. One is made from the cap of a spray starch with the top of a Tesco herb jar and the little one is a cut pilchards tin wrapped around a dowel with duck tape ( very sharp , the decoration on the dowel is my blood

I bought these the other day. I don't really have a great deal of use for secateurs but they are always useful to have. My last pair spent the winter outside on the balcony & were all rusty. They didn't cut all that well really either but I hope these will do better & I will try to remember to bring them in before winter sets in at the end of the year.

I have a few and keep losing them, even though I've tied a red ribbon around the handles to make them conspicuous. There's probably several pairs lying around in the garden somewhere.

I use my Felco 12 with the moving handles for pruning the apple trees and sharpen them every time I use them at the farm. I could be a bit excessive, but it shows the love for my garden tools.

Just wondering if anyone has experience or recommendations for a telescopic hedge trimmer or chain saw ? I have a hateful bush arching over from my neighbours high fence about 2 meters up . The seeds germinate all over my garden and I have to pull up loads of seedling every year. At the minute I`m using a pole pruner from Lidl. I have to stand on a ladder and pull a string for each cut. the neighbour is an elderly man and I don't want to bother him but he cant even see the shrub as the hugh leylandii tree behind it hides . That s my second question how do you kill a 30 foot leylandi
