Good photos SueA We have two turning up most evenings now at about 10pm, one slightly smaller than the other. The other evening I was watching the smaller one feeding when suddenly, the larger one came running (fast) across from the other side of the patio and head butted the smaller one away from the food. The smaller one fell down the step then rolled into a ball, the large one ate some food, had a drink then wandered off, the small one then went back to the food none the worse for his 'telling off'

We are trying to entice them onto the allotment site. Any tips would be appreciated.

The poor little thing peony , if it happens a lot you could always try the trick of putting a sturdy box over one food bowl with a small entrance hole cut in it just big enough for the tiny one to get in & to keep the bigger one out. Dai if you leave food & water out, leave some areas of longer grass, leaves, logs etc. & small holes at the bottom of any fences then if there are any hedgehogs in the area they'll find their way in.

Thank you Sue. Will cat food do?

They like cat food Dai but you're not supposed to give them fish based ones as it's not good for them, meat or chicken ones are fine though & a shallow bowl of water. I don't put cat food out though here because there are too many cats who wander through & would get to it first, mine seem very partial to dried mealworms.

Good idea SueA, I'll keep watching and if I think the little one is missing out I'll try it

We have a few cats using the allotments Sue, so will try the mealworm route. Thanks again.

I was a bit late putting the food out the other night so this little monkey had climbed up the step at the side door & was thinking about knocking on the door just before 9pm!

My 2 hedgehogs are regular visitors now SueA and they are coming earlier in the evening now that the nights are drawing in. They've been doing a really good job of eating the snails, I've seen lots of broken shells, and my Hostas are (almost) holes free

Finished my hedgehog house and positioned it in a reasonable spot in the garden. camouflaged it with soil and some turf. i know it is a bit early yet and I still have to put some leaves in when there is enough falling so hopefully some little squatter will take up residence.

Well here is the hedgehog house, Entrance on the left. I don't think there is a resident yet, probably too high a rent.
