Hmmm... thanks for the clarification/expansion on that, dianthus. My usual shopping doesn't include those sort of bags... but I will ask around my social network. If nothing else, it will baffle and confuse my friends and family ! (1) In the meanwhile..... (drum roll). Polytunnel News
Well, my "puncture the sags" technique is SORT of working. Trouble is... I'm now experiencing "travelling sags". In an apparant denial of the basic laws of gravity, the bulges don't ALWAYS build up in the same place, so I need to open up new holes, and move my watering cans accordingly. Still, this is a minor price to pay. I reckon I've now collected almost 3 litres of water that would otherwise have been soaking the floor, or - more likely - dribbling down my neck whenever I'm working in there. Speaking of working.... I can proudly announce that I have tonight planted Parsley and Basil seeds. However, I have run out of clingfilm and/or plastic bags, so they will have to sort their OWN germination out, without assistance from me ! Notes: (1) Moreso than usual, that is.

Do you eat posh bread, then, Roofy, or the cardboard slice type?

Mostly the cardboard type, except when my Dad is baking.
I DO try and get the 'posh' bread in from Morrisons, but I only get down there every fortnight !

January Roundup
Well, I've not posted much for the last two weeks because it's been WAY to cold, wet and miserable to take photographs, and I've been a busy bee. As usual, the pictures are posted onto the RoofNet, so you can click to see a bigger version. | First up; I had a lovely Birthday, with some great gardening presents. One wonderful suprise was a package from KC.
It was six small envelopes, each containing seeds, with hand-written instructions on how to germainte/grow them.
But here's the key thing.... she did NOT tell me what the seeds actually ARE. I have to grow them, and try and identify them. | | Once the party was over, it was time to roll up my sleeves and do some tidying up. I've pulled all my south-facing standing away from the wall, and filled the resulting gap with bakers trays to make an extra 'rear' growing surface. I'm thinking of putting all my onions boxes on these, with the decorative flowers in front to 'mask' them. | [td] | It looks a bit ugly at the moment, it has to be said... but come the Spring.... | | I bought some plastic lids for my seed trays, and plonked them onto the heated bed. | | .... and put up another shelf ! It's a bit wobbly, and it appears to be blurred. But I don't think the seedlings will care ?
| | The annexe is all tidied up as well, and the auxillary greenhouse cleared out and ready for plants ! Phew ! |
Well, thats it. Doesn't seem like much, but it's taken me a couple of weeks to do all that ! There's more news in the Onion diary.... But now... off to Wilko's for some more seed trays and lids !!

Indeed grindle ... I guess it may seem strange to write about this sort of stuff. After all, most of you consider this routine. But for me, it is radical. You have to recall that I am still relatively new to all of this. In previous years... Wait... let me remind you that I started 6 years ago with some potted chilli plants on the windowsill..... Up untill 2014, I ignored the Roofgarden between October and March... things just stood and rotted. So... for ME... this is.. well... I guess... slowly but surely.. I'm becoming a gardener ? So forgive me if I ramble on a bit, and seem a bit self-indulgent with all the photographs and stuff

I love KC's present Roofy, you could be growing anything! Me to Sue, think it was a great idea of KC. That's an awful lot of seeds but I am sure that you will be able to make a lot of space in your Garden.

Indeed Moonlight... one of the envelopes alone had 2500 seeds in. (I counted them.. ) I think these are geared towards hanging baskets ? However, I suspect they will be 'hanging around' in several locations; at work, at my Sisters, my parents... and in the roofgarden. Hopefully they might double-up as bedding plants etc ? Well... all will be revealed around June I love KC's present Roofy, you could be growing anything! A worrying possibility SueAOr even.... I shall be sowing the first Triffids this week !

I'd be wary of pack no.6 Roofy, KC hasn't put the estimated height on that!
