I like stargazing live - Prof Brian Cox is amazing. I have a telescope but haven't used it for ages - might just get it from the attic and have a stargaze :-)) I like Brian Cox......he's very likeable and explains things well for the "uninitiated".... very easy on the eye too I rather liked Patrick Moore.

I liked old Patrick as well Moonlight though I found him difficult to understan in his latter days. Brian Cox is more a Physicist than an astronomer but he does it well I agree. Even Brian May the Queen gutarist is knowledgeable as are all the others in the team. We do our own version at our group here in S Wales and are always hoping the sky will be clear for hands on stuff outdoors but mostly we have to be content with illustrated slides indoors.

It was very funny tonight. After showing the girls' the program (lots of WOWs) they wanted to go and look at the moon with me. So I told them that they had to get ready for bed before they could come out but they had to make themselves warm.
They came downstairs wearing layer after layer. I don't know who wore the most layers but Fairy counted 7. I am not joking ("Mummy, I can't bend my legs...").
So there they are staggering round like Zombies in fancy dress as the Michelin Man, we all go out armed with HH's binoculars ready to discover the secrets of the Moon lit sky But It was cloudy so we all went back in.
Girls are determinded to go out tomorrow - wonder how many layers they are going to wear then.

Welcome back How are Stripy and Dotty ? I have caught Spotty on my plant a couple of times but they are both fine at least they don't fight like the fish do at times. I wonder if fish have testosterone?

I haven't started mine off yet either !! My gut feeling tells me to wait a few weeks yet...... Nor have I Lou78W , My gut agrees with yours I had a look at mine today and some of them have started to throw out eyes and that is with them tucked under the thick duvet in my greenhouse.
My very tiny Tom McClelland tuber split into 2 tiny pieces which I have tied together with the label. Of all my tubers this was the smallest and the last one that I would want to split. Even so it has started to shoot and so I have passed it onto my Dad for some nurturing that I can't give it, in my unheated greenhouse with at least 2 window pains with holes in, far too delicate and fragile to go back under the duvets.
With it has gone my Trooper Dan because it has started growing as well.
Slight difference in size between the Trooper Dan and Tom.
I have also given my Dad my Blyton Golden Girl - lovely dahlia but I want to focus on my Deep Reds and Purples. I am not so lucky on my yellows. Having typed that I just thought that I have just added my Trooper Dan tuber. It is a better size for me.

Lots of mullings seeping through re. planning - I haven't allowed myself the time recently too much going on at work. Anyway.
My Dad has advised me quite a few times to grow less vareties but more of each. Not very good at that mainly because I still don't know what I really like but I am getting better at it and I do think about my seed - like to give those bees a good menu of pollen flavours and petal presentation ought to be enticing.
I am going to give my Dad my Challenger (he doesn't know yet) because I wasn't as lucky with that. I wasn't lucky with my Peach Delight last year but I really the shape of the petals be sad to not grow it but...
Sometimes I need to make difficult choices and I just cannot fit everything in that I want to grow next year. Something has to give and if I don't get any seeds and the heavy rains destroyed the blooms, I think I ought to give that one a miss.
Lots of mullings on the medium semi's going on at the moment but I have had a bit of an idea on that - one thing is for certain I won't be growing Hillcrest Candy because it was rubbish for me last year.

Dahlias 2016 (starting from scratch.)
These are my main dahlia rows. Nearest the cabin have been the Small semi / cactus; Medium semi / cactus; Miniature semi / cactus; Ball dahlias and Poms - with bottom left reserved for a Large Pom
These are not parallel. The column on the left is at right angles to rows above and has been where my Large and Giants. The row that runs along the side of the Greenhouse has been used for a mixture of things including Ball dahlias and Pirate and Marston George.
As you can see there are 3 reserved. Hillcrest Hannah and Amber Festival are reserved for the girls and Tel's Wyn's Favourite because they are Special. The corner isn't as formal as that and I am not intending on planting anything in the top left corner.
Lots of mullings - especially with the Medium Semi Cactus.

I am going to walk away from the dahlia planning - 2 many windows open - can't find the photos that I want to use. Don't know whether or not to opt for 2 Zoe or 2 Oakwood walking backwards very slowly before either my head explodes or I start having dahlia nightmares. Worse than a seating plan at a mafia wedding.
