Glad to hear that Speedy is safe Give my regard to your Dad. Did I understand you correctly in your earlier post, in that he uses soil-heating wires ?

I went to bed very early for me before midnight. Even made it up there before HH and that is something that never happens (In the last few years). I worked Tue, Wed and Thus this week plus the other stuff I do. Will try and do an update a bit later. Weather was really bad last night hope my Greenhouse is ok.

Fairy had a nightmare last night and I headed off to bed around 12.40am so a bit later than the previous night. I must try to be more virtuous tonight.
Have decided that the Fish pump is not working right because after cleaning it started making that horrible rattling noise again. So we need to go and buy a new one. Also the siphon kit tube is too big and instead of gradually coming out it gushes. So fast that we are beyond 10% in a speed faster than a Formula 1 racing car leaves the 'pit. We had gone with one that you don't need to suck up, just jig the water up and down a couple of seconds but er no. All the poo and algae that had been scrapped off and left to settle on the gravel (as instructed) is now whisked up like a man making gourmet porridge.
So another trip to the fish shop is on the cards but we will do a water test first.
The aggressive behavior of 'Glitter' - Pirate's fish towards 'Scaley' - Fairy's fish had calmed down and they seemed to be happy together. No aggressive behaviour at all. Well not until we changed the water then roles were reversed with Scaley trying to crash into Glitter at a speed a Spit fire Piolt would be proud. Cue emergency searches via Aunty Internet and it said that we need to rearrange the furniture and plant life. Apparently they can sometimes see too much of each other and need more hidey holes for a bit of person space and me time. So I dutifully rearranged the plants and the lighthouse and after that they have been absolutely fine. Mega relief. We went for the Phlaty because they were
So there you go, our passive fish are only passive when we get the Feng Shui balance correct in our tank. A lesson to remember for next time. Hope to do a water test later - hope the balance is good.
Father Christmas' present has turned out to be very expensive but we do enjoy watching them.

A brief update on the dahlias. My dahlias are still protected with the duvets. Ah bless. No plans at all to start trying anything until ages yet. The only 1 that I am really not happy with is my Willo's Violet but not stressed about it because I have Irish Glow from my Dad. I told him that that was one that I wanted to grow next year so he added a tuber to his Halls order which he told me about after he had ordered it. Plus I have my one from him and my Gurtla Twilight, Lismore Moonlight and Moorplace. So I am not going to be short on the poms. Again I only want 1 plant of each. Well maybe I could stretch to 2 of my Dad's seedling.

How is Speedy reacting to all these changes, Moonlight ? I don't think that we still have Speedy unless he is hiding up the top of the inside of the Lighthouse. If I ever have any good news about Speedy I'll let you know.

Fairy and I have just planted some solar lights in the garden. I got them as Christmas /Birthday present last year but I hadn't planted them because they didn't have any stakes in them. I was annoyed but didn't do anything about it which was actually a good thing because I discovered when I got some white solar lights that the spike is there just tucked away up inside. So feeling rather chirpy about it.

Hi moonie, think I read in one of your posts somewhere that you were thinking of trying onions. If so, pop down to any of the garden shops, and get some Sturon sets. they are not for showing although years ago I won with them in the 'Grown from sets' class. They are easy and make a decent onion for cooking. i have just put 40 sets in these trays of compartments and when well rooted will plant out. not doing any show dahlias this year or any show stuff as too much going on here atm, its like a builders site.

Show or no show sweetpea I bet the majority of your garden is still beautiful. Do you think that you could do another entry in your blog Sweetpea?
