This is a photo I took today of the phalenopsis orchid bought as a clearance bargain from M&S about 4 years ago, flowers every year in the kitchen window.

I have a white one that is now sitting on our living room table. During the last week or so 3 flowers have opened! This is it's 2nd year with me but the first time it has flowered for me. .

Thank you, grindle! I have only lost one plant in the last few years & that was due to water accumulating in the funnel at the base of the leaves. I didn't realise what was happening until it was too late to save the plant!

Yesterday my son brought me some plants & a stick for the last Orchid that at present has a very long scape. I knew he had several dead plants at home so I asked him if he would bring me one when he came round. He did but said it was the only one they had left! I was particularly interested in the clips commercial growers use on their plants but the only clip on the stick he gave me was of no use. So I got out some soft wire covered in soft plastic & cut a couple pieces off to make my own "clips"! I used the stick he gave me anyway. Now the Orchid has support! There is a long way to go yet before I actually see any buds but at least doing early will help avoid breaking the scape later on - something I've done twice before on other Orchids!

The yellow one continues in the small kitchen window because my wife doesn't like the aerial roots! The close up of the yellow was taken from outside which explains its bad resolution. The window could do with cleaning & anyway to take this macro shot I had to stand on tiptoes & extend my arm fully, almost dropping my new phone in the process!
I wanted to try out my new phone's camera macro setting so this is more of a trail till I really get the hang of it! I've always wanted a macro function on my mobile phone & now, at last I've got it.

My Orchids are still doing fine. The first one to flower again this year, the white one on the living room table, is coming to an end now. There are only 2 flowers left on the scape. . The yellow one in the small kitchen window is still doing very well! It's a shame it has to stay there but what can I do if my wife doesn't like the aerial roots, I can't very well cut them off, can I?

I was very pleased to see that the last of my 3 Orchids had finally opened its first flower of 2022!
I took it into the living room, (together with the yellow one that has to remain in the small kitchen window because my wife doesn't like the ariel roots), for a photographic session!
Here are some photos from this morning session:

Here is a picture of all 3 now flowering on living room table!
The yellow one was moved back into the kitchen window after I took the photo! (My wife doesn't like the ariel roots!) I put them all together for a moment so as to have a photo of the 3 all together!
