that sounds like a good day out then.
We went to Nottingham on Monday as it was our youngest daughter's graduation ceremony. She, Victoria, has had a quite a week of it. She has gained her MSc in Biodiversity and Wildlife Conservation, then she has been offered a job as a Marine Mammal analyst. She will be working from home observing film footage from anywhere in the country. We had a lovely pub lunch to celebrate.
What are you 'doing' for Christmas? We are going to our eldest girl's, Elizabeth, for the big day. They are the newly weds and they are looking forward to entertaining us for a change.

It will be odd not doing the rushing around. Victoria wont be with us as she and her fiance Dan are going to his mum's.
We've already had 2 Christmas dinners with two of the motor bike groups we belong to. Elizabeth's menu will be less traditional so I know there wont be turkey as she doesn't like it.

I'm glad you're all going to enjoy Christmas. I have had invites to go to people but I don't want to go anywhere, Christmas is too fussy for me and I'm not the type of person for fuss. I'd rather visit them in the spring

I put my Christmas tree up today. It is a long standing family tradition. In 1919 on my mum's third birthday her mum put up a Christmas tree as she knew she would see the beauty of it. The next year her mum put it up on her fourth birthday. The up shot of this is when she was 5 and at school she went to a friends house in the Xmas holidays and thought it was her friends birthday too as she also had a tree. She was quite sad when she realised it wasn't special for her. But the result is the tree always went up on her birthday. Today would have been her birthday [she died on her 79th birthday in 1995] so it is always with happy memories, tinged with sadness that the tree goes up. Both my girls have done the same thing, carrying on the tradition.
As it is just Steve and me at home now I have a tree and cards and that is about all.
what Christmas traditions do you have?

my tree went up yesterday too, it's the first year for quite a while I've done more than just a tree as we will have visitors here rather than going away, I discovered things I'd totally forgotten about

Lovely to hear all your Christmas plans. I will be visiting my son in Scotland on Tuesday and he has arranged a holiday cottage even further north on the beach. If it wasn’t for this extra bother, I would have stayed here, as strikes are badly affecting my journey.
Ha ha. I have to do my ‘bit’ and am making pavlova and the mince pies with my home made mincemeat and really nice biscuit pastry. I have been asked to make the Zucchini Cake with Lime Frosting too which I now find is a bit of a fuss. I know I will be watching terrible programmes on television, but it is part of Christmas with my oldest son and daughter-in law. I enjoy all the pipe band events as he is in Forres Pipe Band. Actually, he doesn’t watch much television and practises chanter in his office.

Thanks grindle. It’s is making me feel sick actually, as the usual route is off my train at King’s Cross and on to the Azuma just 2 platforms away with no change all the way to Inverness. Now, I need Passenger Assistance for each change. No time to grizzle. I will look in tomorrow.

Have a safe journey Cherry.
A bit disappointed today as the council garden bin collection is this morning but due to the weather it is sadly empty:( The garden has thawed out nicely but it is so wet I daren't walk on it.
I will have to find something else to do, but I am avoiding housework. The linen cupboard could do with a tidy. Why do husbands pull things out and then just stuff the other bits back in anyhow? Or is it just me that wants to keep the matching pillowcases with the duvet covers?
