Good work Geranium. You may not have any bother for a year or two now.

The favourite snack in our garden at the moment is suet treat nibbles. As soon as I pull the blind up in the morning the birds leap into the branches next to where I put them & stare at me intently! Here's some of my regular customers.

I've got a few of those feeders too, Sue, they're great for keeping the food in the feeder By the way, the birds have got brilliant shelter and cover there, is it bushes around an archway ?

Yes Louise, there are climbers on the fence behind them & shrubs around & that's a grapevine growing over the arch, they eat all the grapes as well & even enjoy tearing bits off the vine leaves! I have other seed & nut feeders hanging up in the cherry tree too.

A sparrowhawk came right up to the birds' feeding station this morning, and the birds disappeared in amazing fast time. In just a few minutes they were back out feeding because they saw the sparrowhawk fly off into tall trees a long way off. This goes to show that they really need cover.

Lovely piccie Sue. I have a robin that sits and waits for his suet treats every morning. The blackbirds have now eaten all the berries on my herringbone cotoneaster and have now started taking those on my variegated holly. I have cut some branches off and put them in water in the greenhouse as I was worried I would not have any berries left by Christmas eve which is when I usually cut the holly and ivy for my indoor arrangements

We had Fieldfares in the garden today, they are the first I’ve seen this year. They normally arrive a couple of day before the snow.

wow ! It's not cold enough for them - well, i wouldn't have thought so. You're right though, they always appear when it's extremely cold and snow's lurking not far behind. I've been looking out for them but i'll be extra vigilant now ;D There'll be redwings around too WF, they flock together, and it's together i see them here.

We don't get fieldfares here, or redwings. I'd be pleased if we did, but not if they brought snow with them!

We also get hundreds of Fieldfares and Redwings but not one yet! Sue I know what you mean, they do stare at you until you put feed down.

There could have been, I only caught sight of a few Fieldfares eating berries beside the house on my way out. They are normally in the orchard with the Redwings eating the apples, this could have been a few strays I'll have a good look tomorrow.
