Same here, Peony, no sparrows here either. They certainly are busy little things - just been watching one take a bath after a male blackbird I could sit for hours just watching the birds

Jays don't normally come to the bird table so it must have been very hungry.

Robins are coming every morning to the window to get me out with water and food. I have to put out a casserole dish with water every day now and change it for yesterday's. I can't keep the big water dish unfrozen. The cut apples are being put in the kennel run/bird enclosure because the snow is too deep outside this and they would sink. I normally put them outside the kennel.
It was a bit misty this morning, so the geese were flying very low right over our heads.

A Sparrowhawk I wonder if they have worked out that gardens are easy pickings? This year we have seen more in the garden than we ever had (and more piles of feathers).

We have a pair of Mallard ducks on the pond. There is not enough light to get a good shot but you get the idea They arrive every spring, sometimes they lay a single egg but they never stay. We are hoping when the dog goes they might stay and breed.

They are so pretty WF. I love ducks and had a pet Muscovy for years, until we moved and the dog next door jumped the fence.
Do you remember that I have never had Goldfinches here before and the most I had when they discovered the nyger seed was three? Today I have six and they are squabbling over the positions for getting at the seed. The feeder only takes two at a time. They are ever so pretty, and of course the other birds are still on the peanuts and fat balls so it is very busy out there. Now I have to wonder what they eat when they are not here.

We found another pile of dove feathers in the garden this morning I found 1/4 of a wing in my garden today Esther. i am guessing Tigger the farm cat has been around the garden,He is a fantastic mouser but i wish he'd leave the birds alone, I know double standards an all but i don't like mice (esp in the house) and i love birds

There are magpies building a nest in one of the tall trees at the front of the house. I can see it from the office window. February does seem early.
