Had my first dahlia show today of the season and it was a two day one. We couldn't wait until tomorrow so went back today and was really pleased as got five firsts, two secOnds and a third along with silver and bronze medal and two firsts with my first chrysanths I was so chuffed never expected that! Especially as the best exhibit was the one and only sir alf we have ever grown, that bloom is way ahead of any others growing. I will try and get some Photos on later

Went to the NWDS show in Lancaster today. I took one flower of a seedling of mine for an opinion. Well, someone thought it was a sport off Jomanda . I'm going to try and get some cuttings from it asp! (I only had 3 seeds from last year, and 2 germinated!!) If its the only thing I do this year with dahlias, that's OK!

How lucky is that, two seedlings and you get a nice one. My seedlings that have flowered so far have been singles or collarettes. Hoping some of the later ones will be some decorative blooms, fingers crossed. ;D

You must be very proud Candyblue.
The allotment looks fantastic and represents a lot of work. It is quite interesting to see how people handle the dahlias differently.

They are looking great candyblue, the way the plants are supported is unusual, but it works. Have you another show coming up?
