For ages I've been looking for a simple way to tell if my polycarbonate panels were really UV protected as advertised. I don`t think they are , as the roof panels have crumbled, or perhaps they are in the wrong way round as usually only one side is UV protected. I thought someone may be interested in this, ( probably not ) www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003TOXRJ0/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_detailsI bought some, and as soon as my daughter has finished playing with it , i`ll see if it works on my replacement panels. I`ll let you know

Are your panels marked at all? The large sheets that I used for my roof had printing all over the protective, plastic sheet. Unfortunately the OH peeled the protective sheet off the first one then forgot which side was which. We tried comparing them to the other sheets but there was no visible difference. There is now

Oh dear ! WF have you them in the wrong way round ? No mine were not marked as such.
When I got my greenhouse 4 years ago the panels were advertised as being UV protected ( I noticed they removed that in later adverts ) I specifically asked someone from the company, via email, which side was UV protected. , one side had a clear plastic cover and the other white plastic . after 2 years all the panels were yellowing and last year starting to crack on the roof. if you recall, with the forums encouragement I complained and kept at them and they sent me the entire replacement roof panels free of charge . now the roof is entirely full of holes I`m wondering now if I should: just put the new roof panels in for now and hope the sides last a bit longer. Get good quality replacement panels for all over. or, Invest in an entire new green house.

I was thinking of painting a small spot of the nail varnish on the undersideof the panel and if the uppermost side is UV protected it won`t change colour in the sun . do the same on the other side as well of course, if it changes colour then there is no UV protection at all

It was a good idea, it is a shame it didn't work though. I hope these panels last longer than the last lot.
