I am feeling quite a lot better so went to visit a neighbour who breeds orchids. He propagates 10,000 per year and sells to a nursery down south.
Went to the Townsville craft market this morning. That was good.
I have been to the Botanic Gardens but did not venture under the sh**ting machines which hang upside down in the trees like leaves. There are hundreds here in the big mango trees.

Take it gently, but have a great time. When will you be back?

I won't be back until early November Geranium.
I walked a short distance today when I got back to Maggie Island and nearly fainted. I am still not quite well, it is hot, and I have to eat to take the anti-biotics, but I have lost more weight. I seem to be going off coffee too. Odd.
Fiona's house in Townsville is a 'heritage' house with a lovely granny flat. It is really gorgeous. The swimming pool is large too.
I had a close look at the gingers today and they were full of green ants so I managed to be bitten.
Moira is away today, so I must go and lock up the two chooks before it gets completely dark. They are in the 'snake pit' and I refuse to go down after dark. The washing machine is down here too.

Were you eyeing up that 'granny flat' Cherry? ;D You've been over here so long that you're not used to the heat anymore, take it easy & have a good time.

Sue that is an interesting comment. The tropics are a bit foreign to me as I come from Victoria. I quite like the weather this month, but people keep out of the sun, especially in the middle of the day.
Shopping centres have awnings to protect customers from the sun in the car parks. We could do with them to help protect from rain. Why not?

Why not indeed! What a good idea. Shame you're still unwell, though. I hope it doesn't spoil your trip.

Just take things easy Jenny, hope you'll be right as rain soon.
Do you still feel like Aus is 'home' or in Britain home?

I am starting to feel defensively British, especially when I can't get a Medicaire card to have my blood test and I have been horribly sick so did not go to the doctor. Just as well Jeremy is a doctor. He is dealing with refugee druggies who really give him the runaround so he gets fed up with this. He gave me the antibiotics and I will get my blood test sneaked in as the nurse there is Moira's best friend. I can go to the hospital without paying anything. Of course there is my insurance, but I haven't read it properly to find out about the details.
Australians are so proudly Australian, that they forget there are other parts of the world which may have pretty scenery and even more modern aspects. The interstate train service is poor, but perhaps more people are flying.
Yesterday was a big circus taking the dogs to the beach. This meant coming home with heaps of sand in the car and washing the dogs off outside. One is a tri-coloured cocker which my granddaughter was showing when she was here, and the other is a Hungarian Vizsla. He missed out on the beauty, but has a nice nature.

It's all bound to be 'different', but at least you can speak the same language! Going to the beach sounds wonderful - it certainly isn't beach weather here.

We picked up Jeremy from the ferry and went straight to Arthur Bay for a picnic tea. Moira set up the table with a tablecloth and we had Mumm (for me) champagne and a beautiful meal of small things to pick up. This is an idyllic spot. It is a very small bay with rocks around two sides and the sandy side with palms at our backs. There is no-one on the beaches because it is 'stinger' season. I was paddling too, until being told not to.

That's right Rosie. I was offered a stinger suit for swimming, but I am not that anxious. I think I would rather stand under the hose spray.
