I visited the dahlias at Goldenacre today and I loved 'Garden Friends'. A bit of Googling and I found you! I wish you every success.

I grew a few seedlings 3 years ago, I posted pics on the forum and asked the members to have a vote, on which seedling they would like to be called Garden Friends after this forum. the one in the trials was the one they voted for. Ps its a shame this bloom as 9 petals instead of the 8 but this does happen on the odd blooms. Great pic though, you must have a very good camera.

I never knew you could have the wrong number of petals! Has the judging taken place yet?

Hi cb, you were not by chance with the party from County Durham visiting the trials today, before going on to Joe Maidens place ?

I never knew you could have the wrong number of petals! Has the judging taken place yet? They started judging last week I think, they judge every Monday until the backend of Sept, then add up the points given by the different judges. It could be Oct before everyone finds out the results.

Tel, collerettes can have more than 8 petals as long as they are evenly spaced around the bloom, at least in the current classification/judges guide.
