just a bit curious when i lifted my dahlias and lifted some of my pals i came across what i cany only discribe as a form of lychen growing on the stem of the dahlia at the base my mate said he has never notice it before on his dahliaas is it because of the damp weather we have had

Sounds like crown or leaf gall to me, could you post a photo robh?
Sadly no treatment available, the tuber has to be destroyed to stop it spreading.

thanks guys i have looked at crown gaul its not that will put a pick up it was on the stem not the tuber it looks like some kind of moss definitly nothing like crown gaul
