Thanks scrumpy. I have discovered that my cuttings are too hot as they are in a propogator without a thermostat. So ordered a new one yesterday, coming tomorrow so hopefully I can set it to 65 and all will be well.

Took more cuttings today and potted up some earlier ones that have rooted.

Does anyone have any rooted cuttings for sale? I have been after Barbarry Haze, Salsa and Blyton Golden Girl. Was hoping to pick some up at the AGM but due to car problems, never managed to get there.

The numbers were down at the northern AGM, shame that everyone wasn't snow free like me. Very informative talks from all concerned as usual (much appreciated by this novice). Interesting slant on the very dark varieties from Dave. What did he say? They are so dark that judges have difficulty judging them with the light indoors.

Getting a little worried when cuttings that have been potted up for 2 weeks start to damp off never had that happen before.I have 100 cuttings potted up (way down on previous years at this time) and 240 in the propagator.Any thoughts I had of using early cuttings as mother plants as been blown out of the water by slow growth. Its gonna be another tough season.

I have had a few die on me over the years, but only one or two from what looked like damping off. I have lost more while hardening off, where the wind has snapped them of at ground level in the pots.

As I said somewhere else, 'I dip the cutting in copper fungicide prior to rooting them.' No damping off.

PM your email address and we can discuss further. Mark

I am interested in the medium you use to "pot up" the cuttings. Do you use straight multi purpose or add grit or perlite? I am finding perlite rather expensive now here.
