Thank you, Jasmin. You're so kind! As I live in Southern Ireland, I don't know if I would qualify to enter in a Country File comp. I do find that a lovely programme to watch.

Oh, I didn't realise you lived in Ireland, whisker. We've spent several happy holidays over there. Admittedly they were rather damp ones, but so beautiful - and the people we stayed with were all lovely. (We used the scheme where you stay in private homes)

Sorry only just got back to posting..been a bit under the weather..so to speak! I have lived over in Eire for quite a few years. Firstly I moved to Bray and lived in a mobile home in Greystones, moved to Waterford and was there for a couple of years. Then to Lisburn in the north, came back to England for a few years (lived Liverpool, Taplow, Slough) and then back to Dublin for another wee while. Now back in my birth place Norwich in Norfolk! My eldest daughter married an Irish man and still lives just outside Waterford. Lovely place..brings back lots of fond memories. Shame about not being able to enter as I think it's such a beautiful picture.

this started off as a diary. i think I'll have to change the name, as, unfortunately time seems to be issue far as posting goes. That's interesting that you've spent so much time in Ireland, Jasmin. Thanks for the compliment re photo. I think I will post it on a great forum "Some Pictures I took Recently" on www.boards.ie, an Irish conglomerate of forums, where there are some great nature photographers.

Hiya Whisker, Do you mean that you don't get enough time to post as often that you think a diary should have? I wouldn't worry about whether or not it lives up to being a 'diary', with daily entries. It is what it is. People find reading other peoples / blogs / diaries interesting (I know that I do) but I don't know about you but I write mine for me, I enjoy and am reassured by posts that other people who have read my saga. I have received a lot of encouragement and moral support in my Diary. If you still want to think of yours as a Diary then it is your Diary, if it has evolved into something else then that's great to. You don't needs lots of words when you include a photo. Hope that that makes sense.

Agree with Moonlight totally! It's what you want it to be that's the important thing. I write in most of my diaries just whatever I am doing or thinking at the time or that day and often miss days. I do try to only write about gardening things on here seeing as this is a gardening forum. Keep posting those photos 'cos you have such a talent for it.

Thank you so much, Moonlight and Jasmin for the encouragement. I have loads of photos that I could put up - just getting round to it is the problem, as I have a lot on my hands these days! Hope to catch up soon! Many thanks again!

I picked these radishes this morning. It's not long since they were planted in between the celeriac plants, and they are giving me a constant supply now. I eat the leaves as well as the radishes. They taste fresh and slightly peppery.

A helping of legumes - broad beans, runner beans and peas ready to be steamed. [The peas actually are mange tout, which were left too long before picking. There's plenty more coming on, and they are very sweet]. Outdoor tomatoes starting to ripen. I hope, by next year, I will have a glass house, as our weather is too unpredictable for them to ripen out doors. There are loads on the vines, that probably will not have ripened before winter sets in. I look forward to harvesting some figs each year. These are a very hardy variety called "Brown Turkey" fig. I love to have them roasted with sweet sherry or port, honey and cinnamon, and served up with some natural yogurt. Yummy!

Well done you Whisker, fantastic vegetables and I love the photos. Nothing I grow could ever come up that clean and fresh looking. Not sure about the fig but I am sure that it is one of those you don't know whether you like something until you try it foods.

You are the expert at display! I would say the jury on figs is split 50 / 50. Some people love them and some can't stand them. Those who like them really love them.
