I want this Small Dec, called Roger Turrell, raised by his good friend, Terry Bratcher. I do not know who has released it, if it is released.

Porters dahlias from essex might have that one Tel if they still sell plants. I've got their list and the only small Decs on their list are Ruby, Ruskin Diane and Winholme Diane.

"It would be helpful if the size of plant was a little more accurate tho. on Halls' site the heights of the dahlias were totally wrong. Size is a difficult one as conditions do make a difference. We do give heights for all those we list but do say that this is the height that they make on our land in our conditions. For instance, Halls give Taratahi Ruby a height of 1.2m, ours grow to 1.5m. So, the height they give may be right for their nursery but not necessarily the same everywhere else.
Very true.
I wanted to grow Ryecroft Zoe and Station House said it is 6 foot, checked on Halls and they said 1.2m.
What size does it grow in other people's gardens here? Near 6 foot? Last year's dahlias were a lot taller than expected. Which made it difficult to know what to cut when I couldn't see the top.

The first flush of Ryecroft Zoe, with little disbudding, and growing off a side bud, gets to 4 foot. The 2nd flush will go taller. I think Sion got a bit confused when he saw it in my garden as they are grown in raised beds that add 8" to the height. So no worries on it getting to tall. As to your other dahlias going tall, cannot explain Stallen Condessa as i've never had it go more than 4 foot with me.

Thanks Scrumpy, it was your Ryecroft Zoe's that made me want to grow them. I'll go for it.

Well you can see by the height of the buds. See what I mean about a forest.
