Wow moonlight stunning ! Colour and form look amazing I have been trawling the net a lot recently deciding on next years and I would adore these. Make grenidor pastelle look boring.
These remind me a little of some of the hapet cultivars from Peter haslofer in Austria as they dare to be different but still with form and quality. I want to try some of his as they are different from the same show varieties always mentioned.
If you dad is selling any cuttings let me know as I would KILL TO TRY THESE !
Dad's are talented men. Mine at 80years old still knocks the spots off me in maths and and also my nephew with physics and he has just done his Scottish advanced higher qualifications.
Congratulations on a very talented dad ! From your pictures you posted his talent at growing dahlias has rubbed off on you as well.
All the best
Raymond

Hiya Raymond and dahlianewbiese6, I've read your comments to my Dad over the phone and I think it is great that you like some of his seedlings but he's a long way from selling anything, if that is what he chooses to do.
Like I said I read your comments and even over the phone I could tell you made him smile. Thank You.

I am pleased it made him smile. Stunning efforts and he should be thrilled with them. I for one would buy all of them ! I am reluctant to buy the exhibition varieties even though proved to be good I am looking for something that makes me go wow ! They do !
If he has any spare seedling and wants an amateur to try and grow one next year then keep me in mind ! Hehe being cheeky I know.
All the best and I hope you follow in the same suit and try your own breeding. I would like to try it next year for fun and see what happens. Not expecting anything but you can only try.

Just a quick update talking to my Dad yesterday about his seedlings and which he is keeping. He is very picky but he has already saved no. 16 because of me, as he knows I like it but he personally wouldn't have kept it. He is going to keep to no. 17 which is another one that I really like.
no. 23 he is keeping and no.2 - 2014 1st year he is going to keep to.
I've also asked him if he has kept his 'Hairy Fairy' the dahlia with hairs on it's stem and he thinks it is one of the ones that he has dug up to. I hope so because I've never heard of anywhere else having a dahlia with a hairy stem.
Dad's kept a few to have the 3rd year and I'm hoping that he is keeping some others that I fell in love with but more than that I hope that those 3rd year seedlings are good enough to make it their 4th year.
Like I said he is very picky.

Number 23 would be a very nice bloom for the Bi-colour classes. Number 2 looks a class semi/cactus dahlia, to me.

Well done Moonlights dad I love no 23 do you know what it's called ?? It is called '23' Dad will have to really like it to give it a name, told you he was picky. He is going to grow more of the ones that he likes in a better position next year but still without covers. Maybe one will get named then.
The only one with a name is Hairy Fairy and that is just because it is quirky. He has still got Anemone seed from last year left so he hasn't collected anymore seed from them this year.
But he has collected other seeds

Moonlight your dad's seedling looks a bit like my avatar. No 16 reminds me of a Hapet dahlia called dagla 80 which I almost bought.
