Just a thought, but... would it be worth creating some bespoke 'titles' for members.
Rather than Senior Poster, Top Poster etcetera, perhaps we could have gardening related terms ?
Seedling, Sprout, hardy annual, Major Oak... that sort of thing ?

There was something like that on a gardening forum I belonged to years ago, I was briefly a moderator on it & the race to get a 'better' title by increasing your number of posts caused no end of trouble with people posting one word answers or just a 'smiley'. We had to make it that there was a minimum number of words/symbols per post & you could still end up with someone listed as a 'Tree' or 'Gardening Guru' who had just got there by posting on every subject whether they knew anything about it or not & half of it in 'smileys'. I think titles are more trouble than they're worth Roofy.

Yes SueA. I am glad we are not in a race of any sort.

Ahhh.. thats a shame SueA. I just thought it might be more fun for members to have a wider range of gardening-related 'badges' for their icons, rather than the somewhat 'dry' "top member" etecetera. It would also 'decorate' the thread pages a little. Still, I see your point. Do you think that the current members might be a bit more responsible that those on the previous forum ? Would it be worth a try ? After all, it would be very simple to revert back to the default schema ?

You're coming up to 1000 posts Roofie, I don't know what that would be on here, perhaps 'Master Onion'? 'Allium Admirer' 'Golden Globus'? Like Sue I'm not too fussed about a title myself! May I suggest a new avatar/profile pic? Perhaps a certain pungent edible bulb might be appropriate?

Whats in a name?.....we are all gardeners.... Personally I don't really take much notice of "titles"...I value what people say not whether they are "top dog" or "mickey mouse".....

Valid points all, though I was thinking about something a little more whimsical, and perhaps less obviously heirarchical than "top dog" type thingies.
I shall go away and ponder, and produce a hypothetical list.
