I have been unable todo anything in the garden as I had sciatica . I lost my azaleas which were in tubs proberly got waterlogged my roses have been lovely also my geraneums my baskets are full of weeds now, is it wise to buy garden plants now as I would love a trailing rose to cover my fence, my fish pond is covered in oxenginating plants which is unusual as ive seen several young fish lately ive cleaned the bird bath and saucers out with boiling water so Im gradually getting back to normal

Hope you're feeling a bit better now Joysie, sorry to hear about your azaleas, if they didn't have enough drainage holes in the pots or you kept them in pot saucers then maybe you're right & they could have drowned in all the rain. It's a good time now to buy roses especially bare root roses which are usually cheaper than potted ones so I'd give it a go as long as you get it planted when the ground isn't too wet or too frozen. You could also get some pansies, violas, primulas, cyclamen & ivy to put in your baskets if you want to keep them planted up through the winter.

I don't know anything about ponds, but I would definitely plant a climbing rose now I have seen lots of nice ones at the garden centre recently, I love the apricot 'Crown Princess Margarita' or pinky white 'Iceberg' and loads of others too! I've got Bellis in my baskets, right now they look fab but I've never used them before so I don't know how long they last over winter.

Should be ok through to spring and as the name suggests (bellis perennis) they are perennial and hardy too

I've got a bucket planted up with 6 bellis plants which I got for £2 as well, they look good & do usually flower now, last through winter & put another good show on in spring.
