Thanks, Ian k. The difference you describe is similar to what Raymond said. Zoe is a bit more orange and has thinner petals.

Will bring in some new but having a specific trial bed of 24 plants need to keep myself under control so many nice ones I have never grown. They got my allotment measurements wrong I can fit in up to 12 double rows if 20inches apart 24 per double row. Hope to have covers next year as well.

Small ball is a tricky one, I've shown Blyton Softer Gleam for two years now and although I grew it better this year, I still find that when you get it up to small size, the petals half way down around the bloom start to go a bit raggy. Have been keeping an eye at the shows and it seems to be the norm. Unfortunately the choice is limited, Jomanda and Mary's are far better as miniatures, and Westerton Folly tends to fad. I'm going to try Cherwell Linnet next year, plus, after three years of coxing I now have enough stock of Rossendale Hero to grow in decent numbers next. I have high hopes for it, and after speaking with Don Kershaw on Friday at Harrogate, he says it was the best small ball he's grown, I'm looking forward to getting it back on the bench again next year. Here's my rough list for next year Giant/Large dec Sir Alf Bryn Terfel (need to get) Westerton Lilian(need to get) MEDIUM DEC Charlie Two Andrea Clark BJ Beauty(need to get) SMALL DEC Blyton Everest Winholme Diane Gateshead Festival MINIATURE DEC Barbarry Delegate Barbarry Primrose Hall Blyton Shiraz Marston Suzanne SMALL BALL Cherwell Linnet Rossendale Hero MINIATURE BALL Jomanda Mary's Jomanda LARGE SEMI CACTUS Kenora Challenger MEDIUM SEMI CACTUS Hillcrest Candy Ryecroft Helen SMALL SEMI CACTUS Oakwood Goldcrest Ryecroft Zoe(need to get stock back)
I'm also turning the front of the house back to a general display of all different dahlias, so I'm looking for some colourful stand out varieties. So if anybody's got some bi-colours, like Kenora Sunset etc., any fimbriated, collates, and any gallery types would be gratefully received. Can either swap or pay,

Going to give this one a try next year. Took these pictures at Harrogate, Barbarry Delegate, raised by Barry Davies. Along with Barbarry Primrose Hall, my two favourite blooms of the year.

After the collapse of my covers, I've managed to pick up a commercial polytunnel frame, 24' x 91'. Only five years old, for £450, bargain I think!! Although it did cost me to hire a truck to pick it up from Axminster, Devon, a 340 miles round trip. And much to the good lady's disgust, it is now stored in the back garden, until the tubers are lifted and the old frame work dismantled!!!
