There were I think 5 Bill seedlings to be kept from last year. Can't find the posts that actually lists all 5 of them but this is the best that I have.
In addition there is this magenta pink Eastwood Moonlight seedling that my Dad quite liked. but worryingly I can't find a named / label for this particular seedling. There was also a red Water lily seedling. Haven't a clue where that went. Hay hoe.

There were I think 5 Bill seedlings to be kept from last year. Can't find the posts that actually lists all 5 of them but this is the best that I have.
Bill 4 In addition there is this magenta pink Eastwood Moonlight seedling that my Dad quite liked. but worryingly I can't find a named / label for this particular seedling. There was also a red Water lily seedling. Haven't a clue where that went. Hay hoe. So back to the drawing board to try and find the name of this Moonlight seedling: Bill Seedlings 2015 Update.
I now have 66 seedlings all of which have been potted up into their multicoloured pots for what feels like ages.
Last year I had Fred (1 Miniature Ball and 10 Small Ball & 2 Miniature Cactus and 4 Medium Semi-Cactus) 17 Fred Seedlings in total (+ all the ones that I gave my Dad to grow on because they were seed collected from Staleen Condessa and far too tall. I had loads and I didn't want a seedling forest.) Will less seedlings I was able to label them as:
Fred 1-2 Weston Spanish Dancer Fred 3 Downham Royal Fred 4-7 Eastwood Moonlight Fred 8 -17 Red Balloon
Not going to do it like that with Bill 1 - 66 because that is too many. Imagine: Bill 29, Bill 30, Bill, 31....... Bill 44, Bill 45, Bill 46, Bill 47 etc... sounds silly, a bit of a faff and hardly memorable.
So what I am going to have to do is have: Bill P: 1-5 (= Willo's Violet seedlings) Bill LP: 1-17 (= Nuland's Josephine seedlings) Bill D: 1-8 (= 3 Marston George and 5 Brenda T seedlings) Bill W: 1-4 (= Edwin's Sunset) But there are 32 Min/Dual/Small/Medium Cactus/ Semi Cactus, so the best that I can come up with a split between cactus Mother seed and semi cactus Mother seed. Bill C: 1-11 (= 1 Weston Pirate, 10 Weston Spanish Dancer) ***Bill S/C: 1-21 (= 11 Ryecroft Zoe, 2 Eastwood Moonlight and 8 Peach Delight)***
Any flowers good enough to earn the status of 'Red Wool' (and be grown again next year) will be then renamed Bill 1, Bill 2, etc. for 2016, as the idea of keeping Bill P:5, Bill LP: 15, Bill D:5 doesn't work for me n.b. I am not assuming that any will be good enough to be a keeper.
Might all be as clear as mud right now but somehow I've got to make it make sense to me, before I start planting them in the garden. Not that much to go on then. Yet

This was how I planted my 4 Waterlily Seedlings: Got absolutely soaked but was very creative in the planting department with my Water Lily dahlias. This is what I did. My Waterlilly dahlias are in a tub like this each. In theory what I am supposed to do is 'green bin' the ones that really are not good enough. By burying the 2 pots (if I am hard enough to do it) I can just lift out the plant without disturbing the other plants. Then the other 2 either side. It'll be interesting to see what grows.

Getting there it is either Bill S/C 1 or Bill S/C 2 *You may well want to skip this - seedling notes - You have been warned!*
Bill S/C - Notes 1 - Eastwood Moonlight - Dark stems 2 - Eastwood Moonlight - regular green stems + a bit nibbled 3 - Peach Delight - 'petit' and light green - jaggedly leaves Peach Delight - Stems 7 - Regular green Slightly darker: 8, 9 Mid dark 4, 6, DARK 5 and 10 10 - Peach Delight - Rounded leaves ala Brenda T Ryecroft Zoe Regular green stems: 11, 12, 15 Slightly darker stems: 13, 14, 16, 18,19, 20, 21 DARK stems: 17 That's it on the S/C notes other than to say I'm interested in seeing if dark stems = dark flowers and whether pale leaves = light flowers. Also interested in spotting potential DNA parents - family resemblances at all etc.
*Wake UP!*

Cos I feel worn out reading all what you do I used to be a bit like that but have had to ease up quite a bit lately. Still, good to know you are getting on with everything.

Oh you know me I like doing the planning down to the tinyiest detail and then changing it all on the day of planting because the wind has changed direction.

Blimey, that is a LOT of planning work you've been doing Moonlight. I'm intrigued by the idea of "Waterlilly Dahlias"

Roofy but a lot of it isn't 'current' current - I've been trying to put together all that I had which was spread out over different threads, so that I could get it all sorted for when I actually get to start growing any of mine. If you read the dahlia threads it feels like everyone else has started growing theirs and they're getting loads of rooted cuttings and aiming for over 100s of this and that, whilst mine are under the duvet still. Literally.
I know that it seems more than a tad boring. After all you are lucky, your onions are roaring away*. Not jealous (because I've got my 2016 seedlings to look forward to) but I am in limbo which is frustrating.
*I got to about here in the post when I thought well, that is the answer grow more of something else as Well as the Dahlias.
This brings to mind some photos that are a tad more interesting if anyone has an allergy to constant photos of plans for the dahlias that I haven't even started to get growing.
More to follow...

There is evidence to prove that there was life before the dinosaurs (and dahlias) in our garden.

I seem to remember you were struggling to find space to grow all your dahlias and other stuff Moonlight. reckon you've managed to cram it all in somehow. I used to have to plan to the Nth degree to fit all my stuff in my old garden and like you say, change it all as you go.

I woke up thinking do you know what considering it is nearly Easter and almost the school holidays... I could start my Dahlias off.
Looked out of the window, everything with a layer of white on it.
Maybe not then.
Instead I have done 3 loads of washing, ordered Birthday presents online (which took ages) (deciding on which), had a shower and probably some other stuff.
At least I've been busy.

Wow, you've had SNOW ?
It's glorious Spring sunshine here in the Midlands.
Oh.. and I've just had a thought.... your Dahlia layout plan would make a brilliant advent calendar ?
