I've decided there isn't enough blue flowers in my garden. I have blue Meconopsis and must get a blue Corydalis. But I want/need more Do you have any other suggestions for blue perennials that would survive a Moray winter?

There are a few very nice blue geraniums Rosie such as Rozanne, I've got some, can't remember the names & some of the darker blue salvias are hardy, there's a lovely one out here which has survived the last 2 cold & wet winters, will see if I can find the label with the name. You could put lots of blue bulbs in as well, irises, bluebells, camassias all survive here.

Gentians survive up there I think I remember Beechgrove using them, Rosemoor had Willow gentian and it was a beauty

Gentians are lovely aren't they grindle, I've tried them though & campanulas too but they don't survive here but I think rather than the cold it's a combination of wet & the slugs & snails which gets them! I've remembered the name of one of the blue geraniums I've got Rosie - 'Brookside'.

Would forget-me-nots be any good ? I'm not sure wether they are perenial in the formal sense of the term, but my parents and Miss M have them every year.. so perhaps they are just very good at self-seeding ?

rosie , how about Aconitums, they are a lovely dark blue, very hardy (they disappear below ground over winter) so should be alright in your garden.

Ceanothus is a nice evergreen shrub with blue flowers and glossy green foliage. Then there's Hydrangea or Buddleia Davidii.

If you want some monkshood seeds rosie I will send you some when the time comes. Another 'Blue' in my garden is Comfrey but it does tend to take over and needs a good seeing to occasionally.

Oo some lovely suggestions there chums. Thanks. I forgot there are 2 quite large Aconitums in the triangle bit which is next to be dug over. Actually I believe there is a couple of clumps of a yellow one too I have tried Gentians here before...popped their clogs. The Salvia's sound nice but I know they wouldn't survive outdoors up here. We can get -18 here, not much will get through that temps!! I quite fancy Ceanothus, a house on the way to Elgin has a beautiful one covering a wall, but it's a good few degrees warmer there. It might have to be a Geranium, not my fav plant but at least the flowers are blue I have lots of food for thought here. Thanks mateys

I had a look around Rosie & found the salvia which survived but I can't find a label, it has small flowers & seems pretty hardy & a campanula which I thought had died but has come back this year is campanula ambella & also forgot veronicas which seem pretty hardy, I have a lovely one called Shirley Blue which has come through 2 winters. Geranium 'Brookside' , not too much of a thug 'Rozanne' Veronica 'Shirley Blue', looks a brighter blue in real life Salvia lost label Campanula ambella

You've just reminded me daisy that I had a lovely salvia 'Black & Blue' last year, no sign of it at all this year though so it must be the wet that's killed it off if it survives up where you are, most of the pretty salvias with big flowers don't make it here.
