An idea I`ve had ( because I hate washing pots ) is to sew little pots from some cheap light material like fleece or thin landscape fabric. I`m sure the roots would grow through it . Just wondering if anyone knows of any biodegradable stuff .

Why not just make paper pots? Also soil blocks. easy to make and all completely free as well as breaking down into the ground. There are a number of sites explaining about soil blocks and this is just one. linkeasy to make the tool to use at home or buy online if you must. worth checking out other sites by searching 'Soil blocks'

I might just try the soil block , I have seen a few diy soil block makers on the internet . I just like to try something new sweetpea and cheap I wonder if those free green compost bags we get from the council would sew up well ?

I did notice these pots mentioned on the page grindle linked to ladybird but they're ready made & come from China so you'd have to wait a while for them to arrive. Fabric plant potsYou must be able to buy similar fabric somewhere though if you want to make your own, it does say they are degradable too.

grindle ,Rosie was kind enough to send me load of those black plastic pots several years ago for a plant sale I was having and I still have some left especially the larger ones, and they are great to use. I`m just not satisfied unless I can make things myself
