I saw these advertised in a local garden supplier. All seedlings Not cheap $43.50 AU As we are only a few days away from Autumn would it be worthwhile getting them. (they could be a pre order) I will know tomorrow morning. At least I would know what I can expect compared to last year a big Zero never grew beyond 30cm and naturally no flowers Keith

I've sown sweetpea seeds in the autumn a few times in the past & grown them on under cover over winter but have only bought seedlings in spring but I imagine if you give them some protection in the winter they should be fine. That looks a nice selection but I've no idea if it works out as good value, I suppose it depends on how many seedlings of each you get.

I sowed seeds in October, following sweetpea’s advice and overwintered them as they grew outside through frost and snow. Experiment keith! Sow some seeds now and grow a few seedlings in your normal manner. Why can’t sweetpea seeds in Australia be sown at the beginning of winter? There is probably a reason for this. Why is St Patrick’s Day decreed as sweet pea seed sowing day? I would naturally defy this ruling.

i have sowed SP seeds in October, November and March And April over the years. They grow ok and just their flowering times differ slightly. ps just found a seed in one of my pockets which I will stick in the ground somewhere and see what happens

I rang the supplier this morning and it was 7 packets of seeds far too many for my small area. They do have a packet of mixed seeds which I can buy at the Melbourne Show coming up soon.
That gives me more time to prepare the garden bed for them.

Great news keith. You don’t need many and you will want to keep them growing well and not tangling together. Keep us posted. I am very interested in sweet peas.
