This weed is giving me headaches it has a vast underground network of easily broken white roots. Anyone know the name of it ? its the large leafed one

Looks like coltsfoot ladybird we used to have a problem with it down the allotment

You beat me to it steve Almost certainly coltsfoot. I actually got it in the shady part of the garden but I found it easy to deal with.

Thanks Steve and Sweetpea . Its spreading in and around my veg beds where I do not usually use weed killer but looks like I will have to to eradicate it.

Another possibility LB is Butterbur. Coltsfoot has yellow flowers although I never saw any on mine. Butterbur has a different flower altogether. I forget the latin names and barely remember my own

Thanks Steve and Sweetpea . Its spreading in and around my veg beds where I do not usually use weed killer but looks like I will have to to eradicate it. Instead of spraying weedkiller why not use a brush and paint some on the leaves.

I think its definitely coltsfoot sweetpea and from what I`v read the rhizomes spread up to a meter deep so glyphosate it is. I have a gel stick weed killer but it's hard to use and hurts my hands so your idea of painting the leaves seems like a good idea .
