Is this a weed do you think ? It seems to be seeding about the border . The fact that the main plant is strategically placed in several spots in the border suggests that I planted them either as plants or grown from seed though I can`t recall having seen it before this year.

It's only a weed if you don't want it LB. It does look familiar but braincell not working at this time of night.

That’s the one, and it colours in the autumn. I found it useful under a hedge, but not one to show off in the border.

it's a geranium macrorrhizum Thanks grindle .I have no record of buying seed of that particular geranium or plants, but I did sow seed of geranium pratense , would that be another name for it ?

These three plants are so strategically placed that I am convinced I must have planted them. I finally located a a record of seed I bought last year from T&M "geranium reflections" I see described as a commercial seed mix of a vigorous mound forming perennial. These are all the same colour though. I decided they were spreading a little too fast so dug them all up and binned them.
