Please can someone identify these two plants for my cousin. They have appeared in his garden and he asked if I knew what they are, but I can't work them out. Thank you ...

Sorry I don't know either Eli, the first pic. looks as though it could be something soft like a sedum type plant but on the other hand it could be hard & more like a conifer type needle, can't tell from the pic. & the second one is hard to pin down.

Eli, I've just been watching a clip of Danny Clarke the gardener & he was planting a pittosporum that looked very similar to the one in your second photo above, possibly a variety of that?

Thanks SueA, but I don't know if it would be that, because it has suddenly appeared in my cousin's garden - probably a self seeded tree ... I think maybe a type of willow ? He lives 25 miles from me and I have only seen this photo of it which he sent me.

If it's self-seeded Eli then it probably is something like that , I've got a few similar unidentified tree seedlings which have grown in my borders & I just have to keep cutting them down as they've rooted too deeply to pull out & are in amongst plants I don't want to disturb by trying to dig them up.

Thanks SueA, I'm sorry you have to leave these trees in your garden. I hope maybe you'll be able to get rid of them one day. I shall tell my cousin to uproot this soon.

Thank you daitheplant . My cousin has got rid of the saplings now and he's decided the first photo is heather.
