I have just found my hello page ,Thank you for the warm welcome. I was gardening yesterday, picking up dead leaves and scurrying around looking for any signs of life,I was surprised to see lots of builds popping out of the of the cold wet soil.i thought maybe with all the rain they may of rotted in the ground hopefully not.

Well, if mine survived being under three feet of water, I should think any bulbs will! Amazing.

It has turned bitter here in Barrow in Furness. The house feels very cold and draughty even with the radiators bouncing of the walls can't seam to warm us all up. Nothing to report in the garden except some poor cold looking birds, I marvel at how those little birds get through the nights, here is me moaning about draughty spaces, I expect I am a lot cosier than those little birds. They just get on with it.

Evening all, this looks like such a helpful and knowledgable online community that I thought I have to join.
I live in a very wet Wales (or white at the moment after all this snow!!) and grow vegetables and flowers on three allotments.
Have been growing dahlias for a few years and have the odd dabble at local shows. I hope to improve my standards this year and maybe get some covers up.

Welcome Markb. Thankyou for the compliments. It looks like you will have a lot to offer with your experience. You must be very busy with three allotments.

THREE allotments? How on earth did you manage to get all those? Let alone cultivate them? Anyway, welcome to GF. I'm not a great dahlia grower, I just grow a few in the garden, but there are some real experts on here!

Thanks for the welcome. I should clarify that the three allotments are not 'full size' and are classed by our local council as 'half plots' each is 24ft by 55ft.
I managed to get the three because at the time 75% of our site was not being cultivated so the council was glad for people to have more than one.
