That's really surprising - in our small village, there's a waiting list for allotments, and the Parish Council HAD to split one when it became available!

Evening all, this looks like such a helpful and knowledgable online community that I thought I have to join. I live in a very wet Wales (or white at the moment after all this snow!!) and grow vegetables and flowers on three allotments. Have been growing dahlias for a few years and have the odd dabble at local shows. I hope to improve my standards this year and maybe get some covers up.Hi Markb, welcome to the forum, so you too grow some weeds then. ;D

Welcome Mattolo. What a very nice variety of interests. This must be the best forum for dahlias. However, a lot of us grow your other plants.

Hiya Matthew, Welcome to Garden Friends. Looking forward to reading your posts. Cherry is right there are a lot of us dahlia nuts here but don't let that put you off! I've a passion for dahlias but I am a complete beginner, I'm also trying to grow sweet peas and I've recently bought my 1st 2 roses.

Have you got an open bird table? We fastened mesh across the open part of ours and that stopped the pigeons. I haven't got an answer to how to stop the pooo though - they perch on the Eucalpyptus tree and I have to clear up underneath!
By the way, try posting questions on 'Over the Garden Fence' - we're on the wrong thread, really.
