Cherry reminded me that Sweetpea used to put a message on here on this day so - Happy Mother's day to all the mum's out there. My mum died when I was 25 so I just took a bunch of daffs. to the cemetery. This is an acrylic painting I did a few weeks ago of my favourite vase with some daffs.

Out of interest it is "Mothering Sunday" rather than Mother's Day. Today was the Sunday when domestic servants went back to their mother church, very little to do with mothers really.

thanks SueA a beautiful painting, a very chaotic weekend here, all the family squeezed into a little house  Beautiful meal on Saturday here  beautiful setting great food and wonderful staff, we were enjoying ourselves so much we forgot to take photos  then yesterday late breakfast in a beauty spot looking out over Cornwall before oldest son and family had to head back home |

I think it's become Mother's Day Geumlover because nowadays most people don't have domestic servants - except those who treat their mothers as one! 😊 |

Here is a link to an article from the BBC on 'Mother's Day or 'Mothering Sunday'. www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/17343360In Spain it's celebrated on the 1st Sunday in May every year! Years ago, not long after moving back to the UK, I suggested to my wife that we might go & visit her mother & spend a week in Cuenca! Then we did the same the following year & that became a sort of 'tradition' for us. We went back quite a few times to visit her for Mother's Day. Though as she died 6 years ago we haven't been back since. My wife would like to take our eldest granddaughter, who will be 16 in a couple of weeks time, to visit Cuenca again, perhaps in May this year during the half-term holidays. The last time she was there was when she was only 3 years old! |
