I could do with new covers, the ones i have are old and dirty now, but funds are telling me no, you will have to make do with what you have got. I have knocked back a few varieties, because they are too early, but like you say DC there comes a time to stop knocking back or you will have a great show in mid Oct. ;D I got a 24 metre by 6 metre cover for £80 tel.I have also bought a 45 gallon drum of parrafin for next year for £160 which will save me a £1 a gallon from what I was paying earlier in the year.Just finished up the allotment took 5 hours to strip and tie up kiwis and go through and disbud the whole plot never sprayed as I forgot to take the fungus clear with me will have to do it tomorrow now.looking like its gonna be abouy 3 weeks before anything flowers.

Mine are really forming the blooms now. Stems on these winholme diane are a bit weak, never had that before, hopefully a bit more water will firm them up a bit.

Looking well them scrumpy dianes are best in august and early sept any later than that and I've found they spot very badly for this reason I stopped growing them because my main shows are middle of sept onwards.

well what a difference a day makes. We've had a bit of a battering today with winds and rain. What was looking reasonable is now looking very sad. Rain on it's own they'll survive, but the wind has taken it's toll . More forecast for Wednesday too. Never mind, at least i'll finish arranging earlier this year

I am sorry to hear that your ambitions for your big show have taken a battering Scrumpy. It makes you wonder is it worth the time and effort when that happens to you. I felt like calling it a day in Sept 2008, two days before the Harrogate show all was well, thinking to myself at least i will have a few entries even if i do not win anything at least i will have got there. The Thursday morning went down to cut the blooms and every mature bloom on the plot had damped of overnight. I was not the only one that year, all exhibits were way down on the previous year. The following sunday more blooms had matured with not a sign of damping off.

Richard, i hope you have nice weather for your open days, followed by a lot of business for you. Thank you Tel, mine are 7-10 behind where I would expect them to be, smalls in bloom, mediums coming on (few cultivars now out) and the large & giants still budding up.

Well it turns out two out of our three aren't rebel so it will be interesting to see what yours are like There you go, will be ready tomorrow for the show. Have got 3 blooms, two almost the same size, so i think i'll put them in a vase with one white charlie two. It's quite a nice bloom, good shape and size and one i'll try again.
