No, the moonlights were bob metters from chester le street Tel dave fowler was second with 3 vases of grenador pastelle.Have your brenda t been ok this year Tel . Non of the dahlias on the allotment have done anything, my fault just been too busy with moving and one thing and another to feed, water and weed the beds, the weeds were taller than the plants at one stage, i have one plant of Brenda T at home in the garden and the bloom i cut today looked fine.

Congratulations to DCDahlia and Candyblue for fantastic results, no matter what you say. ;D
Have a good day tomorrow Tel. I think I would like the Wilsden Show and quite fancy going some time. Husband thought he was going to Rastrick tomorrow, but the forecast for your area is not so good. Huddersfield strip is high.

Have just got home for the first time since I left at 7am shattered! Two shows for me today but well worth it as got silver medal, a cup and lots of firsts. There wasnt a lot of competition at one of the shows which is a shame as its always better to see more on the bench, we put in as many vases as we could though. I also stuck in a plate of blackberries and won a £20 voucher for the local garden centre as got best plate of fruit in the show, I was very pleased and shocked!! In between staging and going back to shows we went down to Ayletts and walked round their two acre trial field and tomorrow I am driving all the way to Harrogate and back to take a look around (only 3.5 hours each way) I must be mad!! I will try and get some photos on later if I can. If you can that would be wonderful.......dc forgot his camera Well done on your successes.......great stuff ;D ;D

Taken the cups and entered two vases in the single bloom class, at Wilsden. Told the Show Sec, after studying the vases on the bench, that if i was the judge, the one i would give the silver medal too, is a vase of Trelyn Kiwi entered by exhibitor No 2 whoever that is. ;D
The OH has things to do this afternoon, so i will nip back to the show this afternoon and take the camera. Will see if i was right on my judgement on what vase should win the silver medal.

Back from society show with one first, 3 seconds and three thirds. One of the seconds was in the three vase class winning me the bronze medal with a vase of ruskin michelle a vase of joan walker and a vase of oakwood goldcrest. The winning entry was a vase of hillcrest candy and 2 vases of eastwood moonlight. It looks like I will have to have another go with eastwood moonlight.I was 1st and second in the mini ball class with marys jomanda.Been up the garden and looking round there is about 180 plants I have not cut a bloom off.Thank god for ruskin michelle, joan walker, oakwood goldcrest, jomanda and marys jomanda.Plans are already being made for next year and the first thing to do will be to get a frame up for covers in the new garden giving me around 420 plants covered.Remembered mt camera today so pics are to follow of todays show.

There is a local pub show next week that usually attracts a lot of growers wanting to get some late flowers shown and a society show a few miles away that has some open classes the week after so we will see what happens. It has been a difficult year Tel,with all the wet weather in june I did'nt get planted out until the 10th (it rained all day as I planted) and the ground was saturated so it took a long time for them to get there feet in.In hindsight I should have stopped plants earlier and maybe covered my older garden earlier I just havent had the ammunition of certain varieties and none at all of some,34 plants of brenda t and not one shown and I had some beautys last year.Everything double stopped is late I showed my first ruskin myra and ryecroft jan today and they were young blooms. Also showed my first vase of hillcrest candy today but can't decide if I like it.So all in all 5 firsts 12 seconds and 5 thirds a best vase in show a silver medal and a bronze medal I can't complain really. The wife is pleased no trophies cluttering up the house this year the trophy for best balls in show was given to the small ball winner with westerton folly ;D

Good comments Lou and I am pleased you are looking forward because it could have been too depressing this year. You haven't had a fair go yet.

I don't have trophies cluttering the house,D.C.There is only one show that likes me to bring home the trophies ,which is usually about five ,and they are kept in a bag in the loft.At all other shows I just leave them there. The most I have won in a year is 48 in 1998.Nowadays it averages about 20 because I don't do as many shows as I did then.I just haven't got room for them all.
