I have never heard that before but I looked at google and it has loads of superstitious information. I am not superstitious. Well, not when it comes to colours. They look great.

The white Dahlia is 'Ice Frills' and the red is 'Nescio'. The little perennial that was wilting in the heat is Orlaya. It has perked up now, and the Dahlias are still looking good, too. Red and white is by far the most common colour scheme for Christmas flowers here.

That may be the reason I don't know about that colour pairing Mary. Perhaps it is alright in Australia too.
Your dahlias are just beautiful and it is great to see the colour in our winter.

This is 'Wild Card', and I'm looking forward to seeing it fully open. It looks promising at this stage.

Tubers are boxed, let them settle for a week and then I will be giving them some heat. Do you start all of them now or do you stagger the varities. This will be my first year of starting tubers off and taking cuttings. I have all my tubers boxed in the garage (which is dry and frost free). Would appreciate any advice.

I start mine mid January. All varieties are started at the same time. The first cuttings taken are rarely used, it's what follows that produces the exhibition material.
