Finished cutting now. Some nice ones, some not so nice, but hopefully I'll be able to fill nearly all of my entries. Most blooms i've ever cut, including 21 giants.

Looking good scrumpy but how do you get in the kitchen to make the tea? Actually I was wondering how you transport them all to the show. Too many for the average car I think so do you use a van? I used to show dahlias fairly locally so never had a problem and with sweetpeas I could pack dry so transport was never a problem there.

Luckily that's the garage Hired a large van. Might even be to many for that!!. Will post a picture of them all when secured ready for transport. Should be about 18 buckets.

When everything was arranged they looked pretty good. Managed to complete all bar one of my entries. Unfortunately, hardly anyone else had anything to show so if I hadn't entered there would have only been about 7 vases in the dahlia section, most of those pom poms. So it was 11 firsts, 8 seconds and a 3rd. Luckily for the judge I enetered every class in mine and the wifes name so there was something for him to judge. The small semi cactus I put some in my daughters name as well, so he had 3 to choose from. Nothing was going to beat the Oakwood Goldcrest in my name though Best in show went to my 3 vases of miniatures. Strangest result was the small decs. I had some really nice unbeatable Winholme Diane, then about 8 o'clock Thursday evening I had a quick look around the garden and managed to cut 5 Senzoe Ursula of various sizes and put them in the wifes name. No idea how, but they ended up winning. They will look really good tomorrow when they have opened a bit more Most talked about bloom was undoubtedly Bryn Terfel. They were huge, especially the stems that were as thick as my wrist. Will have a good sleep now and sort out the photos tomorrow.

Well done Scrumpy, I would have loved to have seen your face, when the Senzoe beat your Diane's, I bet the OH loved it. In a way I was quite pleased, but senzoe were all different centres and one was a lot smaller. Dianes all looked identical. Perhaps he prefers darker colours

Did you do the staging for the senzoe? maybe that was what swung it!!! don't know about that, but 24 hours later they look really good, so anyone going today would see why they got first.
