Good Evening drdahlia welcome to the forum I had the same trouble again this year with the same 2 varieties Charlie 2 and Jean Ellen but it was only a couple of blooms not the whole plant, I have decided not to grow Charlie 2 next year and Jean Ellen only growing 6 plants instead of 12.

Dear Dahlia enthusiasts Can I ask a question. Sometimes I have bought some dahlias-cuttings mostly small/miniature, ball/decorative, and when they flower, they produce an open flower, like a daisy and not the compact ball-like flower, which I expected. My own dahlias never do that, neither the split tubers- or the cutting-produced. Is it a disease ?, and will the dahlia produce the same flowers next season if i keep the tuber ? I really appreciate if anyone can give me the answer If a variety is prone to going daisy eyed, which happens under certain conditions, then you either take your chances or change it. For me, Mascot Mayo and Alf's Mascot were prone to it, yet Charlie Two and White Charlie two were fine. With your dahlias, if the plants looked healthy then it won't be a disease. Just the variety. Franz Kafka was not good for me.

I grew Franz Kafka four years ago, and must have been lucky Moonlight, it flowered lovely. Unfortunately lost it in the winter, when I was useless at over wintering .
