Just finished cutting the smalls. Over 100 cut, and believe it or not most are quite clean. Entered 20 vases of smalls, should be able to do them all. Even got a vase of 3 of the Zoe sport to show, which is what I wanted. They are very close to going over size.

All mediums and giants cut now. The moonlights may be the only problem and may not hold out until tomorrow. Managed to find at least 4 good giants, cut 9.
If everything holds on, 19 vases of these.

Good luck for the show, scrumpy.
Will be cutting dahlias tomorrow night for Saturday. Put my entries in today more in hope than with any certainty, fingers crossed.

Just woken up. Still knackered. Finally got home 5.30 am this morning. Managed to get some quite nice vases. And for the first time in quite a while there were other entries, including a few novices. Results were 12 firsts, 8 seconds, 2 thirds. The 2nds and 3rds were in the same classes as the firsts. Talking of novices, my best "unofficial first" came in the pom poms. I don't grow them but this young couple were having a go for the first time and had 9 to arrange. I could see them struggling, popped over and gave them a few little tips. The first one was actually to wet the oasis They were trying their hardest and couldn't work out what was going wrong as the oasis was so powdery. Anyway, we then went through their 9 blooms with them, arranged them into straight, right hand stems, left hand stems, then looked at the size of the bloom and eventually got 9 blooms that could be arranged in 3 rows of 3. I cut the first front row down to size, arranged the 3 blooms, and left them to do the 2nd and 3rd rows. They actually did a really good job, and I can just imagine their excitement when they saw the red card for the first time.

Well done Scrumpy, How did the sport hold up, we're they over size? The photos of your plot looked good. Now for Southport all the very best for that one. Who was the judge?

Judge was Robin Pearce. First judge ever to show points awarded in the multi vase as opposed to 1st, 2nd or 3rd. My best vases were marked 20 points ( Moonlight sport in the mediums, Zoe sport in the smalls, Mary's Jomanda in the miniatures) The Zoe sport looked good. When I measured it, it was as close as you can possibly get to the ring before going oversize. The moonlight sport was good too. Will sort out pictures tomorrow.

I am pleased any judge worth his salts should leave the points on show Robin is a good judge. Well done again.
