Mine had green centres last season Mark, the centres are fine, its the petal shedding that's the problem this year, I dare not take them to a show at the moment.

Used to have this problem with 'Polventon Supreme'. Only way they could be staged was if they were cut with a heavy centre - about half as big as would be normal - and hope the judge didn't object to heavy centres. Perhaps dcdahlia could answer this better, Tel, especially as he's best mates with the raiser.

Just been browsing Halls online catalogue and may try 'Rossendale Stephanie' next year. Tried to order this when it first came out but the order couldn't be fulfilled. Alternatively, I could try 'Ruskin Diane' as I want the flowers from end of July to August Bank Holiday at the latest for 2015 (Royal Welsh Show to Midlands/Welsh Nationals).

You might just have to take a chance with chloe Tel,just take plenty spares, maybe with a heavier centre, some years it is worse than others for doing it.Last year it was ok,never had a problem with the centres.

Haven't had a single bloom out of 6 plants all summer. I can see it can be good if you can grow it, but I shan't be growing it next year.

It looks good, its the back petal drop that's the problem, Some exhibitors manage to show it. I have a fair few to come out yet and shows until the first weekend in Oct, will see if the later blooms do the petal drop.

Shows until October, you're lucky, Tel. Most of the shows in Wales seem to be in August with only two or three in September.
I will give 'Leopold Chloe' another chance next season but will go back to growing in large pots and keeping them at home so they can be put in a partially shaded area and kept well looked after. I usually use Canna hydroponic medium for this as it contains no nutrients and I can feed very weakly at every watering. If this doesn't work then it will be compost heap time for the variety.

Yes dc, they did really well, especially with all the weather we've had. Mind you the floor in the marque was terrible, was pulling of bits of straws for hours afterwards , the wife had to go back to the car for a change of shoe's!!! Congratulations to everybody that took part and to those who helped to make the show a success . Had a great day at Wisley

Just a coup[le of photo's from the National yesterday. Really stunning blooms .
Which varities were they? Some are easy to spot than others, Sir Alf and the label Hillcrest Candy is a bit of clue but what about others?
@markymate, has it given you a longer wish list for next year?

Friend or foe please? Does anyone know what it is? in amongst the dahlias. Here is a close up. Just discovered it in a different plant. I know that I asked before but didn't get any replies, in the other forum.
