My family did really well our daughter entered the Novice dahlia class (i.e. non child class) with her Amber Festival and came 1st. Her vase was one 2 up for consideration of best New Competitor. She also did well in the Children's classes but I'll write about that in my Diary. Dad won the NDS Silver medal and won the highest total score in the dahlia classes. Me well, I'm chuffed to bits with my 1st - single cactus / semi cactus large / giant. 2nd - 5 large poms with my Nuland's Josephine (Dad got 1st and 3rd). 2nd for my small cactus / semi cactus with my Oakwood Goldcrest, 3rd with my vase x3 Jomanda and 3rd for my 'attempt' at a dahlia arrangement.
Like I said chuffed to bits with my results and very proud of both my Father, daughter no.2 but actually especially proud of daughter no.1 whose dahlias were not in bloom and who wasn't as successful in the children's classes. I am sure that she will have her day sometime in the future.
Very happy and again feel I've been very lucky. I seem to feel very tired and rather grotty post show. Hence delay in update and won't do the photos till tomorrow.

Congratulations moonlight well done to all the family ! And especially you ! You should be very proud. There was a girl of 14 competing in Kent and had some fantastic blooms. I loved the show and if I get it right I Will show next year in the novice novice novice class. Dave Spencer's wife said I should so might give it a go. Much to learn and do first but like your blog tiny steps ! Goodnight Raymond

Some other images and that's me done. Such an enjoyable experience seeing the blooms gives me such admiration in all of you that compete and cultivate these amazing flowers. Your dedication and commitment has to be admired and more importantly respected. Vals candy which I will try along with hillcrest. I do prefer vals personally very elegant colour. Grenidor pastelle again I my last post was a Ruskin not grenidor so apologies in advance. Cherwell goldcrest and Ruskin Myra

Nice pictures Raymond. Now you can see how much hard work and dedication goes into producing show standard blooms. Certainly opens your eyes, doesn't it

Made to feel very welcome as I have been on these forums as I don't do any social media at all. But sometimes I talk through my *** So sincere apologies to all if my enthusiasm is a pain and irritant to anyone. Dave Spencer is a lovely man and took time out of his day to chat to me and came me loads of tips too including a caning demo ,to many to be honest. He said I am welcome to his knowledge but when I beat him no more ! He was great as was everyone there including Dave's wife and Andrew aspitall and they all said I should show next year in the appropriate class. I have joined Kent dahlia society also and will join the nds and also rhs as I want to increase my knowledge base on a number of plants. I have posted lots of pictures in this thread from the show. Cheers Raymond
