Marston George, I found I had trouble with their centres blowing quite quickly, one minute the centre looked too big the next it had blown. Did not have this problem with Marston Lilac. Anyone else have this problem with it ?

The new Heatwave from Hotbox arrived today, 10ft X 2ft 6in. Polystyrene and polythene ready to go. Sulphur bomb the greenhouse tomorrow and wash down everything, then I'll be ready to lift tubers, and get them ready for over wintering. Going to use the under soil cables I had from last year, to keep the cuttings safe and warm . Peat is stored dry ready to make a comfy bed when the time comes, got some very special guests coming from kind members of this forum, and beyond .

Further to my last post. If anybody's thinking about buying a heat mat, try Hotbox first. The customer service is brilliant, very helpful, great advice, and very friendly, would definitely recommend them. Zoey Rey grew to be an exceptionally beautiful flower, but for garden show only. Will keep and grow this dahlia for many years to come if I can. Nenekazi is establish, and flies the flag for fims on the show bench, and the tuber I got from Ayletts, produced a good healthy bunch of cuttings. Very happy with the blooms .

I've always used hotbox, they will make any size for you which is very useful. However, I'd recommend somewhere else for a thermostat to go with it. There's is rather dear.

Got the thermostat with it Scrumpy, but agree, it was quite pricey, but the overall price was good, and as you say, it's made to measure, so it'll fit my bench perfectly

Thanks Mark I will get nenekazi also looking at Jean Ellen I think it's called. One of each to try and perhaps hapet perfect which ryecroft have. Would love zoey Rey and others we shall see what I can fit. I will give hotbox a call once I buy the benches. Clearing the garage on Monday and measuring up. Will need 2 i think and 2 grow lights on separate benches. Approx cost for heat mat ? I am looking at a dew point propogator. Been recommended it and is ideal in a garage. Expensive but could be a good investment. My sister said she would pay half for my Christmas ! Result !

Well, the tubers had their last feed yesterday, and with summer like weather here for a few days, they should absorb that quite quickly. Going to start lifting next week. Hope that they haven't out grown the compost I put them in, makes it a horrible job trying to get the clay soil I have , off the tubers . Got a really good deal on Deadfast sulphur candles, £3.00 a tin, on Amazon of all places. Usually about 6-7 quid, so brought 6, two already used, and two each for next spring and autumn next year as well, bang tidy .

@markymate what feed are you using to plump up the tubors. I had stopped feeding 6 weeks ago. Mine have nearly all re sprouted where I cut them back.

Dahlias are still flowering! Busy getting all our pot tubers sorted as we have a some to go out to New Zealand next week. Once they are washed, inspected and sent we can start lifting our filed tubers- once we have the 1500 Roses potted that are due in this week. Took these few photos last Friday:- Clearview Sundance in our outside trial beds. looking remarkable clean for an October bloom! Tahoma Alan, from USA- not too bad for a white outside in late October. We found this to be a bit late flowering. A general view of one of our dahlia plots.
We have a few varieties already scheduled to include in our 2015 trials and a few from this year will be included and given a final chance to prove their worth (or not).
